I Came Back For You

Chapter Sixteen

I woke up in Jeff's arms and I couldn't help but smile as the memories of last night came rushing through my mind. Everything was beautiful and perfect.

"Morning Sunshine" I looked at him but his eyes were still closed. He looked insanely handsome and I just stared at him.
He shook me a little
"um.. Mor.. Morning too" I felt so stupid for that. It was just Jeff. Handsome and..oh my not there

"How are you feeling" he opened his eyes and looked at me with concern written all over his face.

"Am fine, a little bit sore though but am okay" I answered looking deeply into his eyes and he kissed the tip of my nose.
"You'll be okay in no time. Lemme get our breakfast. I'll be back in a while" he said getting off the bed and putting on his sweat pants and a hood. He kissed me on my crown and left.
I really had a great guy for a boyfriend. I hoped with all my heart that we would last forever but.. Good things don't last long. Uughh, I hated the saying. Wait,why am I even thinking about it.
We're happy together and that is what matters.

I woke up one morning feeling so tired and sick. I got out of the bed and headed to the kitchen to get some water but before I got there I heard a knock on the door and went to open.

"What are you doing here at this time in the morning?
I asked him in an annoyed tone. I knew very well why he was here but seeing him at that hour suprised me.

"Morning too sister, I missed you too. Now will you at least let me in"

I moved aside to allow him to get in even though that was the last thing I wanted to do.

"Seriously Brian, why are you here. You know that right now I don't have any money to give to you." I told him as walked from the kitchen with a glass of water in my hands.

"I came to visit you Eva. I know it's hard to believe but lately I've been thinking that we should start living like a family, I mean, you lost your mum and my dad is gone too. I don't have any other relative and I know you don't either. Maybe we can start treating each other better now, what do you think Eva?"

"I think you're insane. After all those years of treating me like trash and causing me pain you want us to be family? I always treated you like one but what did you do? You always humiliated me in front of your friends. Look, Brian, I think we're better living the way we do and treating each other the same way. I don't have the money right now but in three weeks time I'll be having it. If you don't mind now, I want to rest so see yourself out."
I turned to walk to my room but what Brian did got me stuck to where I was standing.

"Eva, please, I want a change between us. I want to be a good brother to you. I know I don't deserve that chance but am so sorry for all those years that I made you feel worthless. I was stupid but now I know your worth. I wish I could turn back the.."

"Brian please stand up" I tried to help him up but he refused to stand.

"Eva, let me into your life please. I don't want us to be cold to each other anymore. Give me just one chance and I promise you that I will not let you down"

I had never seen Brian beg for anything in his life. He always got all that he needed whether it was through a fight. Seeing him like this now really took me by surprise.
I hated the way we treated each other since we were kids and I always tried make things right but he always reminded me that we were never related by blood and therefore I wasn't his family.
I always felt bad about it but I never got tired of trying.
I gave up trying when we grew up and decided that he wasn't worth anymore. Don't get me wrong here. I spent all my childhood hoping that Brian and I would one day be cool and all that but when I grew up I realized that nothing was ever going to change so I stopped trying to force things.

I honestly wanted to throw him out of the house but I wasn't that heartless. Deep down I knew that I wanted the same thing he wanted now and I couldn't let this chance go to waste.
I knew better than to let him go.

" It's okay Brian. Let's start living right. We only have each other so why not do things the right way. Please stand up"

Brian got up and hugged me and this suprised me even more. He never wanted to get anywhere near me before, but that was in the past.

"Look, I got some pics I want to show you. This might not be the right moment but I just can't keep this a secret. I want to look out for you"

"What are the pictures about"

"Let me get them from my bag. But remember I only have them because I care about you."

"Okay, get them and I'll make us some breakfast"

Brian headed out to his truck and I went to the kitchen. This was the best day of my life if I could say that. I was feeling good now and the headache was alread gone.

"Eva, they're here"

I took the envelope from his hands and opened it.

What caught my eyes broke me into pieces. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"Eva are you alright. Eva! Eva?"
