"Because you are the first girl I have ever fallen in love with and since calling you 'first girl' doesn't make any sense, I call you 'first lady' "
I can help but feel butterflies in my stomach. This boy's words have a way to get into my heart.
It's unbelievable that we are dating now because when I was new at school, he never really liked me and he always ignored me the first days. Now we are here holding hands. I look down at our entwined hands and a little smile crosses my lips.
"What is going on in that little head of yours baby" he looks at me smiling and I blush.
"Nothing" I reply while I face the ground.
"Are you sure? Coz I just saw you smiling. Unless you want to tell me that my girlfriend is crazy that's why she smiles for no reason" My mouth forms an "O" at his words but he lifts his eye brow at me and smirks.
"It's nothing serious. I was just thinking about how you never liked me when I was new and now you're talking me on a date as your girlfriend" I say looking away since I don't want to meet his eyes.
"Yeah I know. Am sorry I made you feel that way. I was just scared because I was beginning to like you since the first day. Something that has never happened with any other girl. I thought that maybe if I ignore you, the feeling would go away but no. I couldn't keep it to myself anymore"
"I liked you too but when you started giving me an attitude I tried to hate you but I just couldn't."
"I know baby. Am so hard to resist" I roll my eyes at him and he smiles and sends me a wink.
"Don't flatter yourself Sam. I could always prove you wrong" I see a flush of hurt in his eyes which suddenly disappeares. I didn't mean what I just said but I don't know how to go about it.
"Would you really do that?" He asks after a minute of silence but he's not looking at me this time.
"Sam I like you so much and I don't see myself doing anything intentional just to hurt you. Am sorry for saying that. I really didn't mean it." I say as I hug him from behind and he turns around to face me.
He removes a stray of hair from my face and tucks it behind my ear.
"I know baby. Am sorry about that too. We should get inside now." He kisses my forehead and holds my hand as we walk to the restaurant.
I have a feeling this is going to be the best date ever.
Eva's pov
I finish preparing dinner and proceed to set everything on the table.
It's around 7.30 and Jeff won't be here until 8.00.
I still don't know the reason to why James insisted that I invite him over.
I feed Kei and leave him with James as I go to our room and take a shower.
I then head to the living room and I find James watching a football game and a sleeping Kei on his lap.
"Lemme take him to bed. Jeff will be here any minute now"
"Yeah, sure" he hands me the baby and I disappear to his room but not before hearing a knock which James answers and I assume that to be Jeff.
I put Kei on bed and walk out of the room but I hear him whine so I go back to put him back to sleep.
After 15 minutes or so. He finally falls asleep and I head out to the living room to find James and Jeff chatting and when James see's me, he gets up and asks Jeff to walk to the dinning table.
James walks ahead while Jeff walks slowly his eyes trailed on me but I pretend not to notice.
We all settle on the table as we eat our food silently. The silence wouldn't be any awkward if we were in different circumstances and with different people but right now, it's the most awkward moment of my life.
"So Eva, how have you been" Jeff asks looking at me and I shift my gaze to James who's eating his food and not paying attention to us. What is wrong with him anyways. I almost roll my eyes at how comfortable he is in such a situation.
"I've been good" I say as I take a sip of my water.
"That's really good.." Jeff is cut off by James as he clears his throat and sits upwards.
"I think we are all wasting time trying to have small talks when we know there's something else we should be talking about. So Jeff, would you be honest enough to tell us why you came all the way here" James raises his eyebrow and gives Jeff a death look. "I know something important brought you here because this is not a business trip" he continues as he leans back on his chair.
"I came here for someone I lost some time ago" he answers nonchalantly as he continues taking bites of his food.
This whole time am not saying anything. Am just listening while my heart beats increases in every second.
"Might that person be Eva?" My heart skips a beat when James asks this.
"James please. Let's not.." I try to protest but lifts his hand to silence me.
"If we never deal with this problem right now Eva, when are we going to deal with it. Maybe it's time we face it and get done with it once and for all."
"I don't see any problem here James. I bet you know about Eva and I. I came all the way here to get what is mine. I came here to get Eva" Jeff speaks in a serious tone as he shifts his gaze from James me.
"She was yours Jeff. You lost your chances with her. The reason to why I called you here tonight was to let you know that Eva belongs to me now and there's nothing you can do about it. She is my wife now and the mother to our children"James speaks calmly looking into Jeff's eyes. Am unable to speak as I watch them argue over me as if I am not there.
"You're too old for her James. She needs someone like me. Someone who can..."
"Can you both stop it please. Am not an item for you to keep weighing. Jeff, am married now and I hope you can respect that and you James, I am so disappointed in you. How could you force me to invite him just for your own selfish gains. What is wrong with you?" I yell at them as I get up from my seat and head to my room leaving them dumbfounded.
