I Came Back For You

Chapter Twelve

Two weeks later

I opened the shop very early today since I had nothing to do at home. For the last one month my step brother had not been coming home and neither had he contacted me like he as always did whenever he needed some money. I was glad because I had the house to myself but I was afraid that somehow my freedom may not last for long.

"Hello miss, I want this type of foundation. Do you have it in your shop" a voice snapped me out of my thoughts and I quickly took the paper out of the guys hand to check on it.

"Yes I have it. Give me a minute to I'll be right back." I went to the store room and opened a box and pulled out the contents and brought it to the guy.

"Here you go, sir" he took it and gave me the money and he headed out.

"You left your change sir" I yelled at him before he went far.

"Just keep it. And by the way, am not sure if this is the exact one that my girlfriend uses. Can you exchange it if it's not the right one?" He looked at me with desperate eyes and I smiled at him and nodded my head, reassuring him that he could return it.

I went ahead to clean the place before it was time to open. I still had 43 minutes to tidy up the place so I just took my time.

It was almost eight in the evening and I was closing the shop. Today I was walking home alone because Jeff was out of town attending to his family's business. I decided to pass by the market to get some things that I needed.
I was picking some oranges when I felt a hand tap my shoulder and I slightly jumped.
"Hello, am sorry I scared you" the young man smiled at me like he recognized me.
"It's okay." He stood there watching me and I got really confused. "Uuhm..do we know each other?" I asked him already aware that that was kinda rude.

"You don't remember me? Am the guy who bought girls stuff at your shop in the morning. Remember?"

"Oh, yeah. It is you. I remember. Was it the one by the way?"

"What? Oh, yeah. It was the correct one. Thanks"

"You're welcome. I should be leaving now. It was nice to see you again"

"Nice to see again too. Bye"

"Bye" I said and I left

"Long time no see sis. I've missed you so much. Did you miss me too?"
I knew this wouldn't last for too long.

"What do you want Brian?" I turned to look at my step brother who was obviously drunk.

"Nothing you can't afford sis. I just went broke so I came here to get my share,huh!"

"I don't have any money to give to you. Please leave me alone am tired and I want to go and rest"

"I will leave you alone. I promise I will but only if you give me what is mine"

"This time am giving you nothing. If you want money then you'll have to work for it."

"Don't try my patience Eva. Give me the goddamn money." He yelled at me pulling my arm to him.

"Brian let me go, you're hurting me" I tried to fight from his grip but he tightened.

"I'll do much was if you don't give me what I need" he moved his hand to my neck and he started strangling me. I was running out of oxygen and my eyes were shutting but I heard a loud bang and on opening my eyes, I saw Brian laying on the ground and a guy was hitting his head. Who was that guy?

I tried to pull them apart but I couldn't. Another man came and separated them and I just realized the guy who was fighting Brian.

"Are you okay miss. Did he hurt you." He asked with a look of concern and I shook my head no.

I saw Brian get up from the corner of my eye and I moved to him.

"Brian have you been hurt?" I went to touch his face but he pushed my hand away.

"Get your dirty hands off me. And don't think that am done with you yet. Am still watching you." He said as he walked away and I knew that he really meant what he said.
I felt so helpless and I just didn't know what to do. Brian and I were brought up together but we never got along. We always argued about this and that but deep inside, I always saw him as my brother. I wished so much that he could love as his sister and I lived with the hope that one day, he would.

"Who is that guy? Is he your boyfriend?" The guy asked but I just shook my head.

"By the way am Aiden. Not the perfect time to introduce myself but I forgot to back at the market"

"Uhm..my name is Eva. Nice to meet you and thanks for defending me earlier."

"No problem"

"I should probably get going now. It's getting late"

"I will take you home. Please don't say no because I won't be at peace if I leave you on your own"

"Am really okay, that guy is my step brother. He won't hurt me "

"That's not what I saw earlier so I insist "

"Well, okay then. You can take me home."

We walked to his car and we drove off. We talked about what had happened and a little bit of what happened with his girlfriend.
He told me that after coming to my shop in the morning, he went to his girlfriend's and they went out on a date. Things didn't go as planned and so the girl broke up with him. He didn't give me the details about what happened though.

He dropped me and I invited him for a cup of coffee. He was a fan guy to hang out with and we spent an hour talking until he decided to go since it was getting late.

I went back to my thoughts on how I was going to handle my step brother. He was becoming a pain on the neck and I just didn't want to start trouble with him.
I was going to try and speak some sense into him, maybe he would somehow listen to me.

Hello good people. Am sorry I have been updating slowly lately.Am having some problems which I won't mention but I hope everything will be alright soon.
