" What? Am I wrong? He could have answered so many times but he picked getting laid over me. So I will not apologize for speaking the truth! Her feeling are hurt, that's not my problem. Fuck her and fuck him."
I am up and out the door before any of them can recover from the harsh but truthful words. I don't know what they expect from me nor do I really give a damn.
They don't understand how I feel. Hell even I don't understand.
Everything has been taking from me. I wasn't saving myself for marriage or anything but I always figured I would have a choice on who would be my first. I would take a beating day in and day out to get back that choice. Liam took that. Not just from me though. I wonder how many girls he took the choice away from? It couldn't have just started here. How many from back home? His own pack, other's? My guess is both.
God I was so fucking stupid to never see it.
You know looking back Mom had the right idea taking me away from the wolves. If only she knew what Liam was, maybe she would have taken me away again, then who knows they might still be alive now if she had.
Tear's more and more damn tear's.
"Kiki?" Jumping at the voice. Quickly looking around to see that I'm at the falls.
"Alpha Cross"
" Sorry I didn't mean to startle you. I thought you would have smelled me."
"Yeah my wolf isn't exactly helping me. She won't even let me shift."
Alpha Cross get's a puzzled look on his face before shaking his head.
"You're the only female shifter so no one should really be surprised that your wolf is different from ours eh." He smiles I really try to smile too but it comes as a grimace.
" Well I'm not going to ask if your okay cause let's face it, you've been through hell since the day you got here, but I'am going to ask if you need anything? No matter what or when if you ever need anything now or twenty years from now all you have to do is ask."
" So your offer cuts off in twenty years huh?" I'm still not good with emotions. Yes I may be crying like a baby back bitch all the time now but that doesn't mean that the last seventeen years of my life has been completely washed from my nature.
Alpha Cross laughs at my lame attempt of a joke.
"Well at least your sense of humor is in tact."
We are quite after that. The both of us just looking at the falls.
"Do you know the story behind this place?"
I remember Lisa talking about it's healing powers but not saying how they came about.
"No sir."
"I don't know how true it is but the legend goes that this is where the very first shifter came here to die after a very bad battle defending his people and his lands from the white man. The battle was said to last four days many hurt even more killed but he survived with only minor injuries. When he came back to his village he discovered that his tribe did not have the same fortune as he. When he got to his tent the one that held his mate and children and what he saw sent him and his wolf on a rampage.
He hunted the people that killed his entire tribe and family. He didn't care if it was man, woman and children that got in his way he wanted the blood of all those that dared stepped foot on HIS land! Hundreds of people died that week. There was no stopping him until he came across a old woman who was already dying from the long trip across the sea. She begged the beast to spare her two grandson's. They were no older then three & nine, badly beaten by the men that were suppose to protect them in the new world. The beast took pity on the woman and boys, Spared them the same fate that his own children met.
They walked for days. The wolf was said to carry the failing woman on his back most of the way. He hunted for them, fed them, he trusted them. Finally they found land that had access to fresh water, suitable bounty to be killed. A paradise. The wolf trusted those three and allowed his skin back into the world. He cared for those boys for years after the woman met her end. He grew to love them like his own.
The older boy had a sickness to him. A sickness of the mind. He grew so jealous of the native. His healing, his delayed aging, of his beast. What he really hated was that his own little brother seemed to love the man more then him. So in his own mind he had to end them. He took his brother who was now seven to this very falls. Drowned his own flesh and blood.
Hours later the first came searching for the boys discovered the boy he came to love as his own kin floating face down. In his rush to get to the child he didn't even sense the older one behind him. The boy stabbed him unknown amount of times trying to kill his savior. The beast arouse to the challenge showing no mercy in killing the boy.
Shifting back he swam to the small child. The child was long gone. For hours he held the child crying out his hearts pain in these falls. When the moon was it's highest the first begged, pleaded with the Gods to bring him back.
The Gods took pity on the creature and his pain. They offered to bring the boy back but at a price, he would have to give his own wolf to these waters. There was no thought he agreed in a heartbeat. By sunrise the boy took his first breath of his new life."
"Well what happen to the man. The first shifter?"
"Now that's the mystery. Some think that his spirit is what makes these falls heal us, other's think it's all bull shit."
Laughing at this Alpha. Can't help but think about my 'walk' and what I seen. Then there was Liam's whole 'curse' thing. Maybe each pack has their own stories of our existence. Maybe they are all true or maybe they are all bullshit.
Hey some believe that a man was resurrected after being nailed to a cross, so who am I to judge?
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For not asking if I was okay, for telling me the story, and more importantly for taking my mind off of everything."
Crying because he is the only person who hasn't treated me with kid gloves. There is no look of pity on Fred Cross's face. All I see when looking at him is me.
Just Kiki.
