Welcome back to the start of the 2019/ 20 season! How was your summer? Was your summer a series of moments where you remembered the name Divock Origi and grinned shaking your head in disbelief at the moments he had last season? Mine certainly was. After his time at Wolfsburg I wrote him off, I was sure he'd be sold soon and then he's become a man reborn.

I haven't thought of much else. Dad keeps playing the Barcalona game cos he was at work during the match so he apparently needs to watch the highlights a million times because he missed out.

I didn't start this at the start of preseason because I wanted a break but I definitely didn't take a break from watching football. I saw most matches of AFCON and the Women's World Cup

Klopp says we have to move on from all of the six times stuff to start on the next story, I don't think he realises we just lived of of number 5 for the last 14 years. I'm nowhere near ready to move on from last season just 2 months on. We have got 7 trophies to focus on though to be fair so we do need to be ready.

Winning big ears once again may have made us (the fans) way over estimate the power of holding such a trophy in the transfer market. Twitter seems to think every single player was going to drop what they're doing at their clubs to run and knock down our door. The transfer window isn't over yet but this hasn't happened and our purchases are decidedly young. I'm waiting for that window to shut before I say my hellos and goodbyes to the squad but I don't think we'll be doing any more business, nothing big anyway.

The kit

This time we pay homage to Bob Paisley in the year he would've turned 100 with his signature featuring inside the neck of each kit.

Home- The stripes are back! It was weird at first especially since the stripes don't go all the way up but it's grown on me.

Away- White and navy. While I was waiting for it I had a feeling it'd be white this time after all the bright colours we've had recently. It looks like an England kit. It's plain. It's fine.

Third- Black with the green patterning and badges. I had a gross shock reaction to that.  I thought it was blue until I read it's supposed to be the green of the liverbirds, now I like it.

They all look fine on the players and this may well be the last of the New Balance kits so we should cherish them before the boring of Nike comes in.

Preseason

This time preseason hasn't exactly been smooth sailing. Our squad was spread out across the globe because of international competitions which to be fair gave a lot of opportunity to the youth and they grabbed their chances. We managed to have a goalkeeper crisis and had to get someone in Andy Lonergan.

We got started with six at Tranmere, brilliant! Bradford, 1-3, fair enough.

And then we went to America where the sun shined a little too bright on them.

Borussia Dortmund in the Notre Dame Stadium, 2-3.

Sevilla at Fenway Park, 1-2.

Sporting Lisbon in the Yankee Stadium. For the Western Union trophy. 2-2. An awkward trophy share between Henderson and Bruno Fernandes. Why would they not have penalties?

Murrayfield in Edinburgh, Scotland and Napoli, they got their revenge, 3-0.

Training in France and a game in Switzerland against Lyon, back to winning ways, another 3-1.

The women's team joined the men in America and since I do want to talk about them when I can and I thought that was a great move (even though I still didn't know any more than they went together) here's how they got on. They had a much better time of it than the men.

2-2 against the Cleveland Ambassadors.

6-0 win against the Metropolitan All Stars.

2-4 win against Coventry United Ladies.

Next up Man City in the Community Shield, Sunday 4th August 2019, 15:00.

We are so out of winning trophies that qualify you to play this game that I didn't know they still did it. Thanks for your utter domination of the domestics City so we have to play it, I guess. We'll decide once and for all if it's a competitive match or another step in preseason in the evening once it's finished.
