Man City won 8-0 FFS what a reaction to losing and injures, they're falling apart aren't they?

Liverpool's women still can't find a win losing 3-2 to Sheffield United.

The commentators said it'd be a big challenge for Chelsea to win, that made me immediately nervous. That's old Liverpool fan thinking.

Right at the beginning there was no messing from Adrian who races off his line to plant one into row Z to his left.

Chelsea fans scream for a penalty but Van Dijk was simply too strong for Willian inside the box.

Abraham thought he sprung the offside trap, but he hadn't.

Liverpool got a free-kick right on the edge of the box after Mane is brought down. It's cleverly worked set-piece sees Salah roll the ball to Trent who curls it in. I screamed at Trent Alexander Arnold scoring. What a goal!

Adrian a bit casual chipping the ball over Abraham for Matip there. It's cool to see when it's pulled off.

Corner for Chelsea as Alonso hits it against Henderson. Good tracking from the captain.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta equalises after pinball in the Liverpool penalty area. Adrian initially looked to have bailed his side out. I was sure VAR had to rule it out but I thought that was just me being desperate for Chelsea not to have a goal, Mount's foot was offside so it doesn't count.

Apparently applying the offside rule to the closest measure is taking away from the game because it means less goals Martin Tyler said you don't get punished if you go 1 mile over the speed limit - yeah because speedometers in cars aren't accurate enough to apply the rules like that VAR cameras are!

Another good free-kick chance for the Reds after Azpilicueta takes down Wijnaldum who had flicked it over his head. It's just off to the left-hand side of the box, on the edge. Alexander-Arnold to take. Roberto Firmino doubles Liverpool's lead from Trent Alexander Arnold's free-kick! The right-back teed up Andy Robertson who crossed for the Brazilian to head home.

The first half was relatively smooth, second half was stressful though.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the book for time-wasting after Henderson was told off for Adrian time wasting. Martin Tyler is so desperate for things to be bad for Liverpool that he sounded like Henderson attacked the ref when he put his hand on him. He was just sore because Henderson was brilliant today.

Chelsea fans wanted a penalty for a high foot from Alexander-Arnold but he did well to hook it clear.

N'Golo Kante pulls one back. He scores from outside the penalty area after dribbling through a line of bodies. It was too easy for him. Liverpool's defence stood off and that allowed him to get through.

Sadio Mane replaced by James Milner.

Fabinho booked for stopping a Chelsea counter-attack. He hauled down Michy Batshuay on his 50th match. More control needed in this final 15 or so before everyone gets cards.

Alonso at the far post draws a good save from Adrian but he's offside anyway.

Adam Lallana came on for Jordan Henderson.

James Milner booked for a foul. Free-kick in a decent area for Chelsea but Liverpool manage to clear eventually.

Chelsea substitute Michy Batshuayi nods a free header wide! I thought that was in!

Gomez on for Salah.

Four minutes of added time comes to an end and Liverpool have won their first six! I'm glad that one's over for another season.

Liverpool, top of the league! Liverpool, Liverpool top of the league!

Next up MK Dons away in the league cup, Wednesday 25th September 2019, 19:45.

It's our first time facing them.
