Pepe Reina came back and I'm sad he didn't get to have a return home reception.

Villa's guard of honour was an actual guard of honour which was great to see, again I wish there were fans there to see it and join the applause.

Origi went blond and I think I spent the whole of the first half trying to understand that look.

It was so windy and the pitch looked so dry so the football wasn't too good.

Salah wriggled away from about four men in the box before trying for a penalty. He was trying so hard to get one with some of his moves. Anyone who thinks he's a diver would've been losing their minds at some of those. Think he needs to let the golden boot go this season.

Liverpool hadn't had a shot in 30 minutes so I don't blame the attempts to force penalties.

Fabinho does enough to stop the pass that would send Villa clear. Then Luiz hits one at Alisson.

Salah has a shot saved by Reina at the near post.

Well defended from Robertson who nods behind Jack Grealish's dangerous cross for a corner.

No changes at half time.

Big save from Alisson to deny Grealish before the flag goes up.

Villa break and El Ghazi shot turned behind by Alisson.

Firmino, Wijnaldum and Henderson all on.Origi, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabinho off.

After a quick water break a breakthrough came. Mane converts from around eight yards out off the underside of the cross bar after a nice ball from Keita.

Firmino draws a decent stop from Reina. Villa get another free kick from the corner.

Curtis Jones for Naby Keita. Fresh off of signing a new contract. He needs just two more appearances now for that winners' medal.

A first involvement for Jones sees him curl one well into the Kop with left foot but it didn't put him off. He got his first Premier League goal! And it was a well worked one too as Robertson's cross found Salah, who nodded it into Jones's path to convert.

That was Liverpool's 300th in all matches at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp, in game no. 127.

Great save from Alisson to stop Grealish.

Neco Williams for Andy Robertson is the final change to bring he 24th consecutive Anfield Premier League win.

Also Man City lost to Southampton so we're back to 23 points ahead. Assuming they'd get the same results we could've not played the return games and still be champions.

Next up Brighton away, Wednesday 8th July 2020, 20:15.

The schedule is going so quickly.
