The women lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the FA cup. I listened on the radio, that was odd. I was also following tweets so for a second I thought the reds had equalised because the u23s were playing at the same time so the graphic came up so I was strangely mad at the u23s for winning.
A day later the men tasted defeat.
The return to Madrid wasn't nearly as fun although the match played out quite similarly. Really early goal and then the rest of the match, the other team trying to get back in.
It was odd to see Liverpool concede any goal but especially one from a corner. The match was pretty much over right then.
There was no way of getting around their defence. All they wanted was to make everything a foul. I was concerned for Robertson because a yellow card would suspend him but it was Mane they targeted. He booked for catching Sime Vrsaljko around the head with an arm as he tussled for the ball and he ended up being substituted for Origi so they couldn't get him sent off.
The officials were right in their hands
Henderson walked off injured and James Milner replaced him.
The reds didn't have a single shot on target despite 8 shots and 7 corners. The corners were pretty rubbish, everything was so uncharacteristic of what the reds do.
The fightin' talk from Robertson was cool although it kind of reminded me of Kevin Keegan's rant towards Man United having to play Leeds still and all that. They've gotta go to Anfield.
Next up West Ham, at home, Monday 24th Feburary 2020, 20:00.
I don't think mum's gonna appreciate it being on her birthday again.
