The FA has suspended all football until April 4th now the virus has gotten to various clubs. UEFA has also suspended matches now we're out. I feel sorry for the teams that had to play behind closed doors, that's not what football is about and that still means contact between a bunch of people so it's no surprise footballers have it now.
I'm wondering what the players are gonna do during that time. Continue going into training? Personal training plans like they had in the winter break?
The match I've avoided while I waited for those decisions. We were "lucky" to have a full crowd.
The reds were so much better than they were in Madrid.
Pressure built and built until going in at half time without a goal would've been majorly disappointing but Gini saved us from that with a fine header. It felt like Barcelona all over again, helped by pretty similar goals.
We needed to build on that goal in the second half. Again there was plenty of chances including Mane's two overhead kicks. It was Robertson's birthday, apparently Liverpool players don't score on their birthday in Europe and he's no exception, his attempt hit the bar.
Right at the end of normal time Atletico had a free kick which they scored. I thought it was offside but still deflated until the commentators quietly pointed out that it was ruled out. After the match I wished it'd been allowed to stand so they didn't have to play half an hour more.
Extra time came, we regrouped and BOBBY SCORED AT HOME! He hit the post then put in the rebound. Has someone changed his settings at home cos it's strange that he's only managed to score something rebounded right in front of goal. If only he'd managed it a few minutes earlier.
You're always vulnerable after a goal and the shock of one from Bobby left us open. Adrian played out from the back to an Atletico player and they got their goal and another before eventually finishing it with a third.
We're not in Europe anymore. We've already won it twice in a row before so I guess the footballing gods couldn't allow us to attempt to make a third final in a row. Now there is only the premier league left if or when it comes back.
Next, not Everton, as it stands it's now Man City away, Sunday 5th April 2020, 16:30.
What an interesting match to potentially come back to...
