I had no idea winning a league title would involve so many teary eye moments. From the players and manager sure but not me, literally every picture or video got me.
I couldn't resist using the asterisk since everything Liverpool did, there was a reason to put it down. There's the friendly trophies, the introduction of VAR and of course a world wide pandemic to null and void everyone's seasons which took away fans and is now preventing their return for whatever next season is going to be.
It started with losing the community shield which could've meant another season finishing just behind but it didn't go on like that at all. Then we started running away with the league.
We took off to Istanbul to win the Super cup against Chelsea. It was important until we won it and then it was definitely just a friendly of absolutely no significance. In fairness the celebrations lasted just long enough for Klopp to say Adriaaan!
Then came a trip to Qatar for the Club World Cup. That one was just a friendly too of course and a HUGE disrespect for the league cup for having our youth players play that game. What should we prioritize the trophy we don't have that requires winning a European cup or one that we have a bunch of and play every year? I'm sure we made the right choice.
Further to being disgraceful for using the young squads the Premier League put in a break only for the FA cup to try to take it away so the youth played and the FA punished us by taking away TV rights which then made Shrewsbury mad at us for losing them money.
We went out of the FA cup and League cup as usual but we couldn't make it in the Champion's League this season. Now that it's being finished after the season I'm glad the boys get to rest and don't have to travel and risk exposure to the virus.
VAR was drama throughout. Of course it'd going to take some getting used to but decisions take too long and what they can and can't rule on doesn't make sense. It explained away our lead as we were clearly LiVARpool.
They went on to gain a tally of 99 points, a club record, beating the total of 97 set only last season.
Liverpool claimed 55 points from their home fixtures, winning all but one and losing none, remaining unbeaten at Anfield for three consecutive league seasons.
They beat all 19 teams for the first time, beating 13 teams both home and away. 14 away wins set a new club record.
Liverpool gained 61 points after just 21 games, which has never been done before in the top five European leagues. Then 79 from 27.
They won the title with seven games to spare, beating the previous record of five.
Mohamed Salah was the first Reds player to score 20 goals in all competitions in three consecutive campaigns since Michael Owen.
Liverpool gained a 25 point lead over everyone the biggest lead in Premier League history.
Henderson won writers player of the year and now Klopp has the managers manager of the year too.
Dejan Lovren has signed for Zenit St Petersburg. I thought I'd be like okay bye but it's just more emotion as soon as Klopp and Mo and anyone else talk about him.
Lovren made 185 appearances for the Reds and scored eight goals after joining from Southampton in 2014. He effectively mark Cristiano Ronaldo out of a Champions League final, win a European Cup, help end long wait for the Premier League title, contribute one of the most famous goals in Anfield history against Dortmond while also featuring in a World Cup final.
Adam Lallana's joined Brighton now he's a free agent. Like Lovren I didn't think I'd be too bothered until I was reminded of just how much he was the embodiment of a Klopp player and scored some important goals like the 5-4 winner with Norwich and recently against Man United. He suits the blue of Brighton so much and speaking of kits, Liverpool finally showed their new Nike home kit. Thanks to New Balance for all their support and for both companies working it out to allow them to finish the season in their kit. I was scared we were going to get the same kit as every other Nike club since others seem to have the same and just the colours changed. As usual it's already been leaked a few times so I'm used to it already. I still don't like the teal even though I think it works and it's really plain looking from a distance. It's a lighter red than we've been getting used to. I haven't seen the rest of the kit but I think they've done good. I like that they appear to be including the women more too. It would've been cool to have one of them on the video but we got Milner at last haha. As soon as Alex OC put it on I liked it so it must be good, he has so much energy for these kit reveal videos even when they have to be over video calls.
The goalkeeper kit. I really like it. It made me think of 90s patterns but way simplified and actually fitting. In fairness they could design anything put Alisson in it and I'll be like Yes, love it!
Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore has stepped down to be replaced by Billy Hogan. I was shocked. He's had such a big role in gaining the trust of the fans as a fan himself.
We say bye to Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth and hello to Leeds, West Brom and one of Brentford and Fulham - the final's on Tuesday.
