The international break is over! I hear Gini's been scoring but other than that I didn't take any notice of it.
I watched Liverpool Women's first game against Reading but I didn't write about it because I was also watching my other red love Ferrari win F1. They lost 1-0.
Our club's been trying to trademark Liverpool again, LFC stop it, you've no right to trademark a place name and damage others also using the city's name.
Early kick off, the international break and no Firmino starting is a big reciepe for disaster. The boys needed waking up so Jetro Willems obliged with a thunderous strike which flew past Adrian in the Liverpool goal. I wasn't bothered at all, I was impressed by the goal but I knew the score wouldn't stay in their favour we're not Spurs.
Shelvey sees Adrian off his line and takes a shot from the halfway line which goes out for a goal kick. If you're gonna try that you should be near target and that was not.
The corner comes in and Liverpool want a penalty for a pull on Matip. It looked nailed on from here, it's apparently reviewed but not given. Grabbing people by the neck and pulling them over is fine.
There was no tile to dwell though. Some die hard work from Andy Robertson who rushed into the box and tapped the ball calmly into Mane's possession. He took no time at all to gloriously place his strike well beyond Dubravka in the Newcastle goal.
Roberto Firmino replaced Divock Origi after he went over and couldn't carry on, he walked off so hopefully it's nothing bad.
Firmino had an instant impact as he poked a pass into the path of Mane. He gets his second after a bizarre mistake from Dubravka. Mane's shot seemed to crawl under the Newcastle keeper and the 27-year-old was there to tap it home his second of the match. The winning position where we belong. The front 3 shared a hug.
Some lovely build up from Robertson and Mane sees Wijnaldum cushion a pass before volleying on to the roof of the net. That would have been superb.
Alexander-Arnold was bearing down on goal after lovely work from Firmino and he slammed it at Dubravka who manages to put it wide for a corner.
Sublime from Liverpool's front three once again, this time Salah reaps the rewards after some magical work from Roberto Firmino. He had a superb touch into Salah who buried Liverpool's third with a calm and familiar finish.
James Milner came on to replace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who made his first start at Anfield in 508 days.
Xherdan Shaqiri replaced Gini Wijnaldum. He stayed to get in the team and gets like ten minutes. What does he have to do?
Another sublime backheel from Firmino. Salah and Trent attack the ball but somehow Dubravka manages to get the block in. How the ball doesn't end up in the back of the net is beyond me.
Mane was denied the hat-trick as the offside flag is raised early from Firmino's assist. I knew Firmino was offside but I still cheered it a bit anyway.
Liverpool top of the league, Liverpool, Liverpool top of the league! 15 points in five matches!
Sadio Mané has now played 50 Premier League games for Liverpool at Anfield, he has not lost a single one. Sadio Mané has never lost a Premier League home game in which he's found the net, winning 33 and drawing 2.
Also they're the first team in top-flight history to win 14 consecutive games while scoring more than once in each victory.
Next up Napoli away in the Champions League, Tuesday 17th September 2019, 20:00.
I did not know this was coming so soon. Apparently their dressing room is a mess right now but as long as ours is good enough then who cares?
