It happened. Liverpool are Champions of England for the 19th time!
Klopp came in and promised a title in four years (meaning any trophy but we assumed the league title) whatever he meant, he's done it. The normal one's done it.
When Leicester won their league title I sat here and said Liverpool would never. I haven't read it back so I don't remember exactly what I said but it was all about consistency. They won so many games by 1 nil and were solid where as we had the talent to produce amazing, crazy matches but not to hold onto tight lead or couldn't get past a team that sat back. Since then we've finally got an excellent goalkeeper and an excellent defence as well as excellent midfield and attackers.
The bond they all have with each other too. It's all incredible what Klopp's done for and brought to the club.
They showed the right constancy last season and it wasn't enough by the smallest margin so we won the Champions League and went again and ended up even better.
Everyone has tried to diminish everything they've done. It's an * title because it's the first VAR season and VAR was fixing it for the reds (even though their benefit from VAR is neutral), because Man City had big injuries and now because it was almost taken away by the virus. The * only means there's something to explain, something a little out of the ordinary and we always do it out of the ordinary so how could anyone expect it to be anything different. We won the earliest league title that is also the latest since it's the end of June! There's so much to explain about this season for the people who look back from years to come so put all the notes under it.
I was obsessed with two matches and it's done but it turned out to be one and one watched. It's made me realise just home much I don't like the phrase won it without kicking a ball. It sounds like we got Chelsea to play instead of of us and didn't do anything the rest of the season which couldn't be further from the truth. I also don't like that Chelsea "did it" because they've been given far too much credit for two of our recent tile attempts now. They took it away and they gave it, no they were one part of long seasons.
I thought once it was done I didn't care what happened for the rest of the matches, play the youngest teams whatever (not that they'd ever do that) but now Klopp and Henderson talked about wanting to keep going and break records I'm 100% behind them.
I really hope they enjoyed last night which it really looks like they did.
I sat watching any interview and whatever I could find getting teary at everything. Jamie Redknapp said it was his birthday and even that got me - when there was talk of it coming back on the 8th I was so excited because that's a week before my birthday so the likeliness of football happening on my birthday was exciting enough never mind having the title happen on it.
Next up Man City away, Thursday 2nd July 2020, 20:15.
It was destiny to get the guard of honour from them after all.
