Part four. You know what's up.

Two-Bit found Johnny curled up in the basement. He put Johnny in the passenger seat of my truck, and the poor kid just seemed to curl in on himself even more.
Finally we left. Just the two of us. "Baby, what happened?" I asked, not being able to stand the silence.
I looked over at him, then hit my brakes. He was sitting there, silently sobbing.
"Oh no Johnnycakes don't cry! It's all ok now. I promise," I cooed.
He shook his head no, and I drug him over into my lap.
"Tell me what happened?" I asked gently.
He wiped his still streaming eyes, but nodded this time. With a shaky breath, he told me everything he'd gone through in the past twenty four hours. From what Tim had said to him, and what he had done to him, and then to us finding him.
I don't think I had ever been that mad before. I glanced at his neck and winced, but didn't say anything. There was no use in making it worse.
"It's all ok now. I've got ya," I repeated over and over as he sobbed into my T-shirt. "It's ok."
Eventually his breathing evened out and his sobs turned to sniffles.
"Come on," I murmured. "Let's go home now."
He nodded, sliding back over to the passenger seat, curling back up on the seat.

I parked my truck in the driveway of the house I was renting. It was old and falling apart, but hey, it's cheap. I looked over and noticed Johnny had fallen asleep. I smiled softly at him.
I got out of the truck and walked around to his side, opening the door. I grabbed him, cradling him in my arms, and gasped loudly. He was covered in tiny little cuts, and they were really deep.
"Oh god what did he do to you?" I breathed. I blew air out of my nose hard, shaking with rage.
I carried Johnny inside, laying him down on my couch. He slowly opened his eyes after a moment.
"Dally? Why are you crying?" He asked weakly.
I felt my face, shocked to realize I really was crying. "Don't worry, I'm ok," I reassured him. "Everybody's ok."
He nodded his head, closing his eyes once again.
I stood there for another minute, before turning to the phone and dialing the number I knew by heart.
"Hello?" He answered on the first ring.
"Hey Soda, can you come over to my place? Just you?" I asked quickly.
"Uh yeah sure. I'm on my way. Is Johnny ok?"
I nodded even though he couldn't see me. "He's sleeping right now."
"Okie dokie. I'll see you in a few minutes."

I stood at the door waiting for him when he finally walked up.
"I'm going to kill that son of a bitch!" I whisper yelled as soon as Soda walked in.
"Tim?"
I nodded. "Come here and see what he did to Johnny."
We walked over to Johnny, who was still sleeping. I gently pulled back the jacket wrapped around him and showed Sodapop both the hickeys and the cuts littering his body.
His eyes went dark as he turned to me. "When and were?"
"Wanna go now?"
He nodded, and we both went outside to my truck.

We showed up at Tim's house just minutes later. I hopped out of my truck and ran up to the front door. I slammed my fist into it.
I heard shuffling on the other side, and then the door swung open. "Hey Dally," Tim purred.
I scowled at him, snapped my arm back, and punched him in the face.
"Get him Dal!" Sodapop cheered from somewhere behind me.
Tim regained himself. "What the hell was that for man?" He spat, blood seeping from his lip.
"You know damn well what that was for. What the hell gives you the right to do that to Johnny?" I screamed in his face.
"Aw wittle Johnny. You wove him soooo much," he said in a baby voice.
"Damn right I love him! And I don't know what you think you were doing, getting between us like that-"
"I fucking love you Dallas Winston. And besides, you didn't really love Johnny, YOU JUST FOUND OUT HE WAS YOUR SOULMATE LIKE, TWO DAYS AGO!"
"I did too love him. He's been my best friend for years now! And there is no way IN HELL I could ever love you!" I added.
"Then why did he never write you back huh? Why?"
"He was scared!"
"Of you?" Tim asked.
"N-no-"
"See you aren't even sure!"
"Get out of my head!" I screamed at him. "You don't know anything! I love him and he loves me!"
Tim just chuckled. "Alright Dal... what ever you say."
He closed the door in my face. And Soda walked up behind me.
Hey where'd you go? Johnny's writing appeared on my arm.
Out for uhh food. You want anything?
Do you care to stop and get me a cheeseburger? Or some Advil?
I chuckled. Sure honey. Be home soon.
Thank you baby 🖤
I smiled.
"Johnny?" Sodapop asked. Holy shit I forgot he was with me.
"Oh uh yeah. We need to stop and get him a cheeseburger and some Advil."
"Alright. Let's park here you run over to the DQ I'll go to rite aid and we'll meet back here?"
I nodded in agreement. "Sounds good."
We both hopped back in the truck a few minutes later, and headed back to my place.
"Hey thanks for coming with me," I told Sodapop.
He laughed. "No problem, that's what friends are for. Besides, all you did was yell at him."
I shrugged. "That's true. But thanks anyway."
I pulled into my driveway and Soda slid out and started walking home.
"Bye Dal!"
"Bye Soda, I'll see you tomorrow probably," I hollered back.
I walked up to my porch, keys in hand. The door swung open quickly, and Johnny ran out to give me a hug.
He held me tightly, and I immediately hugged him back.
"Are you alright honey?" I asked him quietly.
He nodded. "I missed you."
I placed my finger under his chin so he'd look at me, and I saw tears glimmering in his eyes. Slowly, I bent down and kissed him softly.
He kissed back, just as gently, after a moment of hesitation, then pulled away, blushing. He smiled a little.
"Come on let's go inside. I've got you food and Advil."
He sat back down on the couch, watching me walk around the kitchenette. I gave him two Advil with a glass of water and his burger on a plate. I sat there and watched him to make sure he ate it all. When he was done, he got up and set the plate and glass in the sink.
"Ah, I see you've found my T-shirts," I told him, suppressing a laugh.
He glanced down and blushed. "Oh! Umm yeah... I hope you don't mine," he stuttered.
I stood up at walked over to him, hugging him tightly. "Of course not," I told him.
He hugged me back, then yawned.
"Hmm, I think somebody's ready for bed," I told him.
"Dally," he argued. "It's like six o'clock."
I shrugged. "Well I'm sure somebody somewhere is going to bed right now."
He sighed in defeat. "Ok fine, but only if you come sleep with me."
"Tuff bargain kid, but fine. Let's go."

We snuggled into my bed together, Johnny curling up right next to me.
"Hey Dally?" He asked quietly.
"Mhm," I muttered, half asleep.
"I love you..."
I smiled, pressing my lips to his forehead. "I love you too."
