Soda's POV

I was walking down the street from work; I was working double shift and had to stay and close up. It was pouring rain, and I was freezing and shaking. I tried to look on the bright side, as soon as I got home I could take a nice hot shower and-
"Johnny?" I called out, stopping in my tracks.
The drenched figure sitting in the lot raised his head up, and gave a small wave. I jogged over to him.
"Honey, what are you doing out here in the rain?" I asked gently, as he buried his face in his knees. "It's cold, you're going to get sick."
He shrugged his shoulders, still not looking at me.
"Are you ok?"
He shook his head no.
"Is there anything I could do?" I asked.
He shook his head again.
"Will you tell me what happened?" I tried.
He lifted his head up and looked at me. I suppressed a gasp. His eyes were red and puffy, tears still streaming out of them.
"Oh honey, don't cry, I'm right here," I whispered reassuringly, wrapping my arms tightly around him. "I've got ya."
"Dally broke up with me..."
"W-What?" I asked, flabbergasted. I thought they were the perfect couple.
"Why?"
Johnny took a shaky breath, then told me what had gone down. Frankly, I was pissed.
I knew Dally wasn't the nicest dude, but to do something, say something, like that to the literal sweetest kid to ever grace this planet, was a whole new level of low.
I held Johnny tightly, letting him snuggle into my chest. "Don't listen to him. You're precious," I told him.
He giggled sadly. "Th-Thanks Soda... that means a lot."
"You can stay over at my house tonight ok? My brothers aren't home."
He nodded. "Ok. Thank you."
I stood up, pulling Johnny up after me, and wrapping my arm around him as we started walking.

Johnny's POV

Sodapop took me to his house, holding me tight the whole way. I kind of liked it. But I knew Soda was only doing it as a friend. But I was content.
He ushered me into the house, pulling me into the bathroom. He turned the shower on; steam quickly fill the whole room.
"Just set your clothes in the sink, I'll deal with them. Just try to warm up a bit, you're shakin' real bad kid."
Now that he pointed it out, I realized he was right. I tried to stop, but it only mad it worse.
"Thanks..." I murmured quietly so my voice wouldn't crack.
He nodded and walked out, shutting the door behind him.
I stripped from my soaked clothes, sitting them in the sink, then hopping into the hot water.
I instantly relaxed, letting the water wash away my bad day. I must have been in the shower longer than I thought because Sodapop knocked on the door.
"You good kid?" He called through the door.
"Yeah, I'm just finishing up," I called back, turning the water off and grabbing a towel. I dried myself off, then realized I had no clothes.
"Soda?" I called out.
There was no answer. Bitting my lip, I wrapped the towel around me and walked out of the bathroom.
I saw the light on in Soda's room and went over and knocked.
"One second!" He called out, then opened the door a moment later wearing nothing but low rise sweat pants.
I couldn't help but blush, but tried my best to hid it. "I Uhh- I don't have any clothes..." I muttered.
I stared at me for a moment, and I saw I light blush spread over his face. "Oh, um right. Yeah sorry, come in, I'll find you something."
I stepped into his room, looking at the ground so I would stop blushing.
Soda handed me a very large T-shirt and some sweatpants.
     "Thank you."
"You're welcome. Imma go shower now, I'll be right back," he said.
I nodded my head. "Thank you though, really. For everything."
He smiled gently down at me. "Anything for you Johnnycakes."
I smiled, and began to get dressed after I heard the shower turn on.
I snuggled in Soda's bed, waiting for him to get back. I hoped he'd let me sleep with him.
I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
