I sat and watched Johnny breathing. As time when on, it got sharper and shallower. I knew it was getting close, and I couldn't stop the tears after that.
"Please, god," I begged. "Don't take him from me."
And just like that, Johnny was gone. He lay there, pale and unbreathing. People told me death was peaceful. But this fucking wasn't.
I let out a pitiful sob, and Ponyboy walked back into the room.
He placed his hand on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry Dal-"
I snapped. "StOP IT He isn't dead!" I yelled. "He-he's right there!"
"Dal... he's gone..."
"No he's not," I cried. "He's-he's right-" I flung myself from the chair I was sitting in, and punched the wall. Ponyboy just watched me with tear-filled eyes.
I ran out of the room. I didn't stop when the cold air hit my wet cheeks, or when I ran across the four lane road and almost got hit by multiple cars.
"Watch it asshat!" Somebody driving called out.
"Fuck off," I mumbled back.

I reached a small pharmacy with the lights still on and slipped inside. I walked over to the magazine rack, pretending not to notice the cashier glaring at me from behind the counter. I bit back a grin as I grabbed a magazine and ripped it in half.
     "Son you can't-"
     I did it again.
"You're gonna have to pay for those," the man said.
I turned to him. Pulling out the unloaded gun from my waistband. "Give me the money!"
His eyes widened and his breath got shorter, just like Johnny's did.
     "Now!" I screamed.
He flung open the register and gave me the money. I turned and ran. I gunshot rang out and I felt a sharp pain in my thigh, but I kept running.
I slid into an ally, and slammed a quarter into a payphone; I dialed the number I knew by heart.
     "Dal... I need your help..."
I heard sirens in the distance, and I began running again. Somehow, I made it all the way to the park. I could see the gang in front of me. So close. But another sharp pain in my back made me cry out. Two more gunshots hit me, and I collapsed.
I could here the gang yelling, but couldn't make out what their words were.
Ponyboy was kneeling beside me in a matter of seconds.
"Ponyboy," I began. You were right. Everything went dark.
