Third pov
That week Phoenix split her time working on Carter's cars, talking to Jorge, working some in Tej garage and pretending she had a healthy schedule. She'd even seen the new guy a few times, she was pretty sure he's named Brian.
Somewhere in that time Carter began visiting the garage whenever she worked. A few times he even helped her. Most surprising (to her) was that he didn't seem to mind her endless babbling about cars and engines.
Monica wasn't happy about Carter's newfound interest in Phoenix. While Marham thought she wouldn't need to worry, she could see that Carter had lost all interest in her. Phoenix was a spitfire, her attitude usually matched her fiery hair and according to the background check she was of similar background as Carter. Monica was well aware of what Carter could do but she wasn't sure Phoenix was.
"Could you give me a wrench?"
Carter gave it to her.
"Thanks." Phoenix fixed the last thing she needed before the car was done.
Something bothered her though. Carter was quiet. It was not his usual quiet but a thinking quiet.
"Alright, I'm done now." She cleaned her hands. Just as she started drying them on a small towel Carter spoke.
"Eat dinner with me."
Phoenix stopped. Her bain tried to process his words. "I've been nothing but brutaly honest or sarcastic with you, won't act like your 'fans' and you're still asking me to dinner?"
Carter's smug look had her starting to truly question his sanity. "Yes. I will go to dinner with you."
Time skip
Phoenix had her hair up in a bun and wore a black dress to the date.
Carter picked her up in his usual stylish fashion and brought her to one of the fanciest resturants in town. She was pleasantly surprised to find out he did not own it.
"Where did you come from?"
They'd been trading questions all night. Even though Phoenix knew Carter had secrets he guarded closely she had found out about his mother, Maria Verone, a ruthless buisness woman that had raised him on her own. She'd taught him everything he knew.
He had found out about her family. How they'd disowned her when they realized she wasn't going to act like they wanted her too. How she'd left to be a street racer and how she ended up in Miami.
"Well, we lived in the nicest parts you could find in the U.S. It was pretty much every stereotypical rich town you can imagine."
When they were done Carter payed and they left. This time Carter let Phoenix drive.
"Can't drive faster than that?" Carter was teasing and challenging her at the same time.
Phoenix was speeding along the road. "Think you can take it if i go faster than this?" She smirked as she pushed the car to it's limit.
Her laughter filled the car as they skidded to a stop not far from the beach outside Carter's house.
Phoenix let Carter take her hand as they walked along the beach.
"I haven't had this much fun in forever."
Carter raised an eyebrow. "You haven't?"
She smiled and it had Carter smiling as well. "No. Most men bore me and they don't have the gut to ask me out."
He smirked and twirled her around before pressing a kiss to her lips.
"And they definitely don't have the guts to do that."
Do you guys think I'm moving too fast?
Vote and comment, it keeps me motivated :)
