Third pov

Phoenix had to bite her tongue as not to say anything wrong. Reyes was talking more with Carter than her. 'Misogynistic asshole' She thought angrily.

Once the meeting was over Carter and her left. Carter put an arm around her. He chuckled. "I think Reyes has figured out you don't like him." He smirked when he saw his wife give him a confused look. "You glared at him like you wanted to skin him alive and set him on fire."

She cracked a smile. "Not too far from what i wanted to do. Think he'll take the bait?"

"If he wants to avoid pissing us off, yes."

Time skip

While Phoenix was asleep in their room Carter sat with a cigar outside where he couldn't be seen by anyone.

"I didn't take you for the type to have a long lasting relationship."

Carter didn't say anything as Brian and Roman sat down with him.

"I don't get it. You had Miami before you met her, you could have anyone, why her?" Brian asked.

"She is the most intimidating woman i know. And she is my wife." He took a puff of his cigar. "We already had a plan to get rid of Braga before she found out you and Toretto had the same plan. She chose to help you and now she chose to come to your aid again. Do you know what all that has in common?"

Both childhood friends shared a look. "No."

"She made those decisions." He finished his cigar and went inside, leaving Roman and Brian alone.

Phoenix was half awake when he entered the room. She just held out a hand for him to join her.

Brian thought about what Carter said and it hit him what the man had meant. Phoenix made the decision to help them again and again and again. She was the reason Carter was willing to help.

"He loves her because she thinks for herself. It challenges everything everyone else his been with ever did."

Roman looked at him. "Care to explain more?"

"Carter is the type of person that attracts people that does everything to please him. Including letting him do all the thinking and decisions. Phoenix however, tells him no and goes with her own plans. The complete opposite of everyone else." He chuckles. "And now they're married."

Brian figured he could at least be happy for his friend for finding someone she loved. And happy that she could reign in Carter.
