Third pov
Running an underground organization while making it seem like she was "cleaning" it up was easier than Phoenix had thought it would be. Hell, she had enough free time to go take a drink at The Pearl. It wasn't as fun as when she went with Carter though and more than once there had been whispered questions of where the "king" was.
Roberto and Enrique was surprisingly chill with letting Phoenix take the roll of their boss while Carter was away.
She'd taken to stealing some of his shirts, to her defense they smelled like him and damn, she missed him.
She had explained to her friends what happened and made them promise not to tell Brian and Rome. That had been a harder battle. Though it was easier than when her mother had called her. It was enough to hear a few seconds of her screaming for Phoenix to hang up.
Driving up to the prison Phoenix put on her buisness face. She was certain Markham would try to watch as Carter Verone's former mechanic that suddenly decided to take over his buisness talk to the man himself.
A small smirk made it's way onto her face as she thought about the reaction he must have had when Carter only got eight months. The man must've been close to cardiac arrest.
After announcing she was there and being led to a room she was left to wait.
The door opened after a while and Carter entered. As soon as the police left the room she smirked. "Orange really isn't your color."
"Really? And here i heard that orange is the new black." Carter had a hungry look in his eyes.
"Well, you always did look better in dark blue or purple. And that grey suit of yours." Phoenix voice was low enough for only him to hear as she took out a few papers from her bag.
She slid them over to him. "That's how it's looking on the buisness side. The club is doing fine, the stores are doing fine and I've had some guys wondering if there's any interest for another potential club."
Carter read through the papers. "You have talent for this." He hummed. "Another club would be fine...." He was quiet for a moment. "What it's going to look like is up to you."
Phoenix hid a smile. "I'll take care of it later this week. Oh, and Aurelia, the cleaning lady. I gave her a pay raise."
Carter chuckled. "You're the boss, do what you like. Just remember, you're mine corazon."
She shivered at the possessive tone. These months would feel long.
The whole time they had been talking too low for anyone trying to listen in to hear them and Markham was gritting his teeth once the young woman left.
Would you guys be okay with me doing time skips?
Vote and comment, it keeps me motivated :)
