You,
With your turpentine eyes and viper hair
I took one glance at you
And I froze
You were
The most gorgeous
Woman
I had ever seen
With my own eyes
So beautiful,
Apparently,
That you might have been
Raped
In a temple
So,
In rage,
Or protection,
In a misguided act,
Athena
Stole your beauty
In her foolishness
She created a monster
I heard you weren't doing so well
Anymore
If only I could hold you
And look you in the eyes
And tell you it's okay
But you couldn't bear to love me
After what the gods did to you
You ran off and hid
The last I heard of you
Was
Don't look at me, I'm hideous
But I still loved you then
Medusa,
As they call you,
I still love you
It broke my heart
To hear
That your head had been snatched
Sprouting beautiful and monstrous life
From the last drops
Of your fertile blood
I had tried to find you before
The fear of being turned to stone
Never reached me
For I knew
A woman like me could not be petrified
By something I already knew
And someone I loved so deeply
Love, I mean.
I still love you.
I think I always will.
And if I have to curse my gods
And release my freedom
To know our security together
Then I am compelled to do so.
But for now, I lie in my bed, mourning you.
I will see you past the river, love.

PoetryThe old one is old and cringey. So I made a new one! I'm not a freakish middle school fangirl anymore, so you can read my ideas without internally dying! Now, it's meme time. // (mostly short stories and poetry, with a lil bit of meme-y stuff (idk)...
