Her life was a mess. Well, there are enough people who suffer from a worse life than hers but with the arrival of Hannah Baker in Crestmont, Evergreen County, it would change completely. People's lies and secrets would be opened up about, some of them would try to neglect everything, other would be honest because those secrets were killing them inside.
She grew up with her uncle William who's in the army, he's never been regularly at home to look after her like a real parent would. They've never had a lot of money. But she had friends who lived higher standards than her so they always shared with her.
Zach Dempsey, Sheri Holland and Bryce Walker were the ones that she grew up with. Montgomery de la Cruz and Justin Foley followed when they were six and eight years old, Jeff Atkins at middle school. The boys were famous in school and Liz and Sheri became the leaders of the cheerleading team always trying to be the best in school to make their families proud. Otherwise, no one would have been interested in them.
Even Clay Jensen was her best friend at a certain time. They knew everything about each other, especially the girls knew the each secret of the boys. Zach's sadness since the death of his dad and his constant effort to make his mom proud, Bryce's loneliness, Monty's pain whenever his dad hit him, Jeff's fear of being the dumb athletic guy who only looked good in the eyes of girls.
All of them were broken in their own kind of way. In this story we will find out why and how their problems and the arrival of Hannah Baker changed life at Liberty High.
