"Hollywood is great and all, but if you're got no friends her, it can be pretty lonely."

"J, you're here with someone else. Go dance with her", Liz tells him softly although she would love to just say yes and feel like in good old times. "I've asked you now. Please, do me this favor", Jeff persuads her quickly so she nods and lets him drag her to the dance floor with him. He quickly lays his arms around her waist pulling her closer to him as he remembers the last time that they've been dancing to their song. Liz feels the same heart-warming feeling in her chest as always and lets her hands rest in his neck slowly.
As the song goes on and they dance slowly, her face resting in his chest, both teenagers enjoy the warmth that they are sharing with each other. But when Liz is about to fall back into this state of nostalgia, she notices Leah standing at the buffet watching the two of them. As much as she doesn't like the girl, she understands that it must hurt her a lot. Jeff notices the girl loosening the grip. "Don't, please", Jeff tells her hopefully. "J, she's watching us. It's making her sad. I don't want to hurt anyone." "But you also made an effort to make her stay away from me at Hannah's party", he argues.
"Because you were interested in her back then. So please, let's talk any other time, but right now, enjoy this dance with the girl you met." "I'm here with you right now and she's seen it herself already. Let's enjoy the last few seconds and I'll talk to her afterwards." Liz knows he's being stubborn in this moment so she lets herself fall and enjoy the rest of the dance with him. As soon as the song has ended, she loosens the grip again. "I'll go over to her, but let's talk tomorrow, okay?" "Okay."
"Els, everything okay?", Monty asks his best friend wondering why she hasn't danced with them for some time. He already knows what has happened. It's pretty obvious to him. He's seen her dance with Jeff and he knows that she's not comfortable with seeing Jeff with Leah. He knows she wants to leave so gives her his keys.
"Here, drive home. I'll be with Bryce or Zach then." "Are you sure?", the girl replies surprised by this sudden attentive manner. „Of course, Els. I would drive you but Jen and I will leave quickly and then come back. Drive home and I'll stop by later, okay?" "Okay. Thanks Monty", Liz nods gladly and gives him a hug, "At least it's working out with Jen." "Anytime."
Liz knows how to drive Montgomery's car and her feet don't hurt from her shoes surprisingly, but still she decides to go to the girls locker room to change her shoes. She stores two pairs of sneakers there for whenever she needs them at practice so she grabs one the pairs and replaces them with her high heels. "Ugh, finally", the girl sighs and takes her high heels wanting to leave when she hears someone in the locker room. "God, Luke, come out. It's not like it's the first time that you're doing this in here", she groans annoyed about one of the jocks hiding that he's here with a girl when she obiously heard him.
"Reed? Why the hell would you hide in here?", she exclaims surprised to see the person that she wants to see the least out of all of them, "Don't you have to be around Kim? Wait, is she here with you? This is the girls' locker room." "Calm down, I'm alone here. If Luke was here, you wouldn't even care", the boy replies now standing in front of her. "That's something else." "Is it?" "Don't change the topic. Why the hell are you in the girls' locker room?", she repeats her question knowing that she changed the topic herself.
"Don't know. Maybe I've been waiting for you", Scott tells her seriously leaving space open for interpretation. That's what she hates about the boy. She's got no idea how to deal with him because he's sending her mixed signals. He can't be a bad jock, he's friends with Jeff. But the way he's talking to her gives her the feeling like he would want to play with her. "As if", she scoffs, "Come on. Is Leah getting on your nerves?" "Not only her", the boy answers honestly rolling his eyes.
"No way, Leah made you and Jeff go to the dance with Kim as a double-date?", Liz laughs and claps her hands sarcastically, "This is way too good. She persuaded Jeff to persuade you to go out with her friend. Looks like Jeff is needy tonight. What made you say yes?" Scott sighs annoyed by the fact that she's right. Kim's definitely not his type. She's nice and pretty but well.. that's it. Many girls are nice and pretty but he wants someone special to go on dates with. "He's my best friend, he owes me now", Scott shrugs pretending that it isn't a big deal when in reality, he never goes out with a girl he doesn't like. That would be wasted time for him.
"No way", Liz repeats her words laughing even more, "You said yes because you didn't have a date and didn't want to come alone?" That girl is too good, Scott thinks to himself,s she's smart.. and pretty and nice. Well, she's nice most of the time but he sees how she is around Monty and the others, she is extremely nice to the people she cares about. And he saw her comforting Hannah a few weeks ago.
"Scott Reed, I'm shocked", the girl jokes not expecting him to shoot back. "I mean.. you came alone, huh?" She stops laughing and rolls her eyes. "At least I didn't come with someone I don't like just for the sake of not being alone", she snaps back knowing that he touched her sore spot. "I'm just mocking you. I'd rather be alone, too, than with Kim and Leah", he admits showing her his soft side.
"I'll leave anyways. Monty is with Jen now and I'm not keen on watching them." "Yeah, I understand. But didn't you come with him?" Instead of an answer, she holds his keys in the air. "I know we're not as close as the others but would you mind dropping me off? I owe you if you get me out of there." "Sure. It's not like I don't save the boys' asses every day", she chuckles and leaves with Scott.
