"Small parties are fun and easy."
❥
"I'm still impressed by that car", Jeff states on Friday in the evening when he opens the door for Liz and Sheri. Liz isn't used to having a lot of great or expensive things. She was raised with her family not having a lot of money as her uncle had to take care for the two of them. But when she got a car to her sixteenth birthday, she began to question their situation.
How could she have an expensive car when they never had a lot money to spend? Well, she was told that her dad was a car lover so that's what he would have given to her on her birthday. Jeff always picked her up before school so she could avoid driving around herself. She didn't want anyone to think that she would brag about it. But Sheri told her that she shouldn't hide anything just because others could be talking about her so she began driving her car more often.
"So, what's your offer Jatkins?", Liz turns to their host. "Come with me", he takes Leah's hand leading them into the basement which the girl remembers, "On the table over there I've got some snacks and drinks, just take as much was you want. And of course a whiskey for you."
Jeff gives her the whiskey bottle which she takes thankfully. The boys know what she likes. Everyone gets themselves something to drink and sits down on the couch. Alex, Sheri and Liz share the one couch, Hannah and Clay the other one and Jeff and Leah sit on the floor.
"Okay, let's start with a game for the beginning", Sheri grins. "Let's go, Holland, which one?", Jeff asks interested. "Never have I ever plus you have to explain yourself if you have. It'll be fun. Oh and but me no buts. Alex, you start." "Well uh..." "Just ask what you always wanted to know", Liz chuckles. "I've never been drunk", he starts.
"Wow, that's what you've always wanted to know?", Liz says drinking and turns to Jeff giving him a surprised look, "Good choice, Jeffrey, a really good whiskey." "Well, I'm the best, am I not?" Hannah, Leah - who looks at her angrily -, Jeff, Sheri and Alex drink as well. Clay's eyes land on his glass.
"Clay, hun, be proud of it. I don't even know how often my head hurt the day after a party", Sheri smiles, "Hannah, your turn." "Never have I ever been in a serious relationship." Clay, Hannah and Sheri don't drink. Liz shrugs her shoulders, everyone knows it already. Alex had been in a serious relationship with Jess and the lovely new couple drinks, too.
"Uh.. I have no idea what I could ask you..", Clay stutters insecurely. "Come on, Jensen!", Jeff throws a pillow at his friend. "Ah, stop it, Jeff", Clay mutters rubbing his head, "Never have I ever been in a fight." Jeff, Sheri and Liz are the only ones who drink. "Really? Sheri, Liz?", Hannah questions interested.
"She thought Christian deserved it because something had happened between us and before I could realize what was going on I was in the middle of the fight", Sheri explains. "You attacked Christian Butler?", Leah speaks up imagining how Liz would attack the basketball player. "Would do it again", she shrugs her shoulders, "I was just defending, Cherry."
"Stop calling me that." "Never ever." "I've never had sex with someone. Single or in a relationship, it doesn't matter", she goes on. Clay and Hannah don't drink. "Tell us! It's been Liam", she laughs already feeling some of the alcohol. She usually never mentions Liam. They hooked up after a party because she finally wanted to have her first time. Why not do it with a good friend? Alex tells them that it's been a girl from his old school and Liz names Jeff and Justin. Scott's name pops up in her mind but she quickly drops it.
"Some guys from the basketball team", Leah says nervously. Liz even feels bad for her because she really seems to affect their relationship but her messages have been so inappropriate. She doesn't want Jeff to know about it. He's way too good to believe what Leah wrote. "Ellie", Jeff iss the last one. Everyone knows it already so she doesn't care about it and thinks that Leah wouldn't be so mad but she notices her hitting his upper arm so he would look at her.
The others don't notice them but she can hear her complaining about how he embarrassed her because everyone found out that they didn't go that far yet. "We figured it out already that you didn't have sex so chill", Liz says loudly and annoyed by Leah overreacting. Her cheeks turn red and so Jeff changes the topic.
"Never have I ever broken something after I had a drink." This time, everyone drinks except for Sheri and Alex. Hannah has destroyed her mother's vase, Clay a glass when someone jostled him. Leah admits that she let her friend's phone drop about which they laugh, Jeff has destroyed different things and Liz drove Sheri's bike against a tree. "I'd say you should be locked up", Alex jokes.
"Okay okay, never have I ever had sex at more than one place", Liz says and takes a sip. Sheri, Jeff and a hesitant Leah do the same. "At my house, Jeff's, Zach's, Bryce's and Sheri's. No need to go into detail, right?" "Same for me", Jeff agrees with Liz and the others enumerate their places.
After another round, they have a conversation. No one besides Liz notices how Leah whispers to Jeff showing him a bag of weed. Liz knows that he wouldn't take it because of his sports career. "Hey Leah, is it only for you guys or did you think of everyone? It's a big bag", she says loudly again so everyone notices her holding it.
Yes, she could be a bitch. Sheri knows it and laughs with her. "You can have it. Jeff can't because of baseball and I don't smoke", Leah explains kindly and throws the bag up to the girls, probably hoping that Jeff would think worse of them now. "Great, thanks", Sheri grins laying five papers on the table, "But why did you buy it then?"
"Oh you know, I thought it would be good for a moment like this." "What about you?", Hannah asks Clay, both of them being hesitant. "That's illegal", Clay stutters again which made the others laugh. He's so innocent and sweet. "Fuck Clay, you drank alcohol although it's illegal." "She's right, Helmet. Let's try it."
"Here", Jeff gives us them lighter and a bottle of water. "Got something already", Liz declines raising her bottle of whiskey into the air. "You're fucked up." "Are you insulting me, stand-Tall?", she laughs building the first joints.
"You're just doing it here? Shouldn't you go out for that?", Leah asks unknowingly. "You mean where the neighbors can see us, smell it and call the police?", Alex replies. "It's alright, babe. It's not happening for the first time", Jeff calms her down laying his hand on her thigh.
