"Valentine's day might be useless but in spite of all this criticism, people seem to enjoy it a lot."
❥
Liz would have liked to spend the evening in front of her tv and cuddle into her blanket but she also thinks about her grandpa and what he's told her. It wouldn't hurt going to the cinema instead of watching a movie at home. She could take a seat in the back corner so no one would see her. The girl rolls her eyes about her hesitation but stands up so to get dressed and ready for taking herself out for the evening.
Great, Charlie is working on valentine's day so the first jock knows about her being alone. But before she can turn around and leave again, he speaks up. "Liz, hey", he greets her friendly, "Which movie do you want to see?" "Hey, Charlie. Uh, I don't care just give me a ticket", she replies surprised by the quick question and she also doesn't care about it, "You're working on valentine's day.. Didn't you ask a girl for a date?"
"Yeah.. I wasn't sure who to ask and also my boss asked me to work as some others aren't here today." "Is it true that I am on your list?", Liz asks him directly as she's been wondering about Scott's words all day. It didn't surprise her to hear that she is on Diego's list, not even Monty surprised her. Both of them are just friends but so equal to each other that the algorithm could evaluate it differently. "Uh.. I mean.. Who even told you?", Charlie asks confused instead.
"Just wanted to know if someone lied to me about it or not. I think it's cute", she smiles at him warmly, "Can I get popcorn?" "Sweet or salty?" "Both." "Okay", the boy nods confused as no other person than her asks for a mix of popcorn. Now that she knows that Scott didn't lie to her in both cases, Jeff and Charlie, she wonders why he was being so honest around her. "Here, popcorn and your ticket. It's the third door", Charlie tells her and she thanks him.
Charlie gave her tickets for the new spiderman movie which she was glad about. At least it's not a romantic movie. That would have probably frustrated her. But it was also quite frustrating that someone threw popcorn down on her from the second level. Of course, she chose the seat right where the second floor ends above her.
She's got the perfect seat for others to throw popcorn at her. But as this lasts for more than five minutes, it annoys her enough for her to turn up to see who's behind this. "Reed?!", she whisper-yells as the boy is grinning down to her. "Sh!", people in front of her react to that so she takes out her phone.
Lennox
stop it!
Reed
what?
stop throwing popcorn at me
why?
why????
are you kidding me?
no, it's fun
not for me
stop it, Reed
make me, Lennox
this line is so old
but still relevant
it isn't
it is
can you not be annoying for once?
no
for the last time,
please stop it
oh you even beg
come up and I'll stop
if I come up, you wouldn't have to stop
yes, I could still be throwing it at you
you're not really making me want to come up
can I offer you something else?
Reed, stop this
what?
annoying me
come up
I hate you
The girl groans mentally and hates herself for standing up and going upstairs to the second level to sit down next to Scott. At least no one else is around them. "Hi", the boy greets her and she rolls her eyes. "That's why you wanted me to come upstairs? To say ‚hi'?" "No, I also wanted some of your popcorn. Mine is almost empty." "Are you kidding me? You shouldn't have thrown it at me."
"It was worth it. What kind of popcorn is this? I prefer sweet and salty mixed but no one else ever orders that." "This is sweet and salty mixed", Liz stutters confused about the fact that Scott is the first person to also prefer this mixture. "No way", Scott whispers back in surprise. That's one of the things he didn't know yet. They look at each other and instinctively smile placing the popcorn between them.
"So, you're not on a date?", Scott asks her interested and with no hint of gloat in his voice. "I had the chance between watching a movie at home or going to the cinema so here I am." "It's a shame no one asked you", Scott says softly, "I mean I did but you.. I don't even know what you did. You didn't cleary say no. You just.. you didn't believe me, right?" "No, to be honest, I didn't." "Why?"
"You're making me nervous, okay?", Liz answers honestly, "I don't get why you even started talking to me nicely, then the next moment you're behaving like a jock again and so on. Is this all a joke to you?" Liz is glad that she finally talks to Scott about this and tells him how it's confusing her but she also regrets the words that she chose. She sounds like it is serious her. Well, maybe it is?
"I promise you that I'm not playing with you", Scott confesses to her trying not to admit his feelings for her already, "I just.. you're also not easy to understand, you know? One moment you hate me, the next we lay in my bed together." Liz furls her eyebrows remembering how Sheri said those words before. Was it that obivous that she feels attracted to him but also doesn't want to admit it? Liz looks at Scott but when her eyes meet his, she knows that she doesn't want to talk about it right now. All she wants is pressing her lips against his.
"Do you even want to watch the movie?" "What? Why would-", Scott begins questioning the sudden change of topic. "Can we leave?" "I mean depending on what you want.. we could go to the toilets.." "No, I want what we had last time", she says instead signalizing him that she not only wants to touch him but also spend time with him alone, "I'm alone at home." "Okay", Scott whispers with a mixture of nervousness and pleasure flashing her his unique smile before they get up and leave.
"Wait, I'll go first and you wait a few minutes, okay? I can see Charlie from the outside and I'll text you when no one's there", Liz says as the two of them stand in the hallway where no one can see them yet. "Why do I have to wait?", Scott complains but Liz glares at him for a second and he nods, "Fine. But text me." "Is someone scared of not going home alone?", Liz chuckles surprised by his reaction but he just shrugs it off.
"Liz, you're already leaving?" Just when she's about to leave the cinema, she hears Charlie's voice in the background. "Yeah, I was bored by the movie and we've got school tomorrow so I figured it would be better to go home", she lies. "Oh, I'm sorry", Charlie stutters knowing that he's got no reason to be sorry for but to a lot of people, the girl appears intimidating, "Can I offer you anything here? It's on me." "That's sweet, thanks, but I'm tired and I'll just go to bed. I'll see you in school, yeah?" "Sure, good night."
Liz walks out of the cinema and waits for a few minutes. She knows that whenever a movie is played and all the customers are in the hall, the employers can use their mobile phones. So when she sees Charlie going into the room for employees, she quickly texts Scott to come. The boy has only been waiting for her message and stands in front of her not even one minute later. "Hey", he breathes out taking the first look at her under the lantern light, "You look good." "Thanks, Reed. You too", she smiles, "Let's go?" „Yeah, let's go."
