As we pulled up in front of his house, I saw him come out the front door and jog over to the car. After helping me out and getting Emma and I into the house, he and Katie brought our stuff in.

When he came back inside, he led me down a hallway to the bedroom I would be using, and set up Emma's playpen in the room next to it, he said if I needed anything until my knee healed and he was home, to use the walkie talkie on the table by my bed (his room was at the top of the stairs first door on the right.)

After I got Emma settled, he showed me where the kitchen and bathroom were as well as the laundry room-"I'll have to give you a tour of the rest of the place and the outside once your knee heals." he said with a smile. Then he asked "are you hungry?"

"Definitely" I laughed- "hospital food is beyond NASTY!!!!" his laughter filled the kitchen as he helped me to a chair and began making dinner "you lucked out, we are actually on a break from touring and don't head back out on the road for 2 weeks." he said setting the oven and grabbing something from the freezer.

The two weeks really flew by and I was actually realizing that I was going to miss him while he was gone, he was such a big help with Emma, getting up with her some nights so I could sleep. Staying with her while Katie took me to my doctors appointments and physical therapy sessions. Often times the pain in my knee would be so horrible after the sessions he would carry me upstairs and let me soak in the Jacuzzi tub that was in the master bathroom while he made dinner.

His buddy Danny came by a couple nights a week and took me to do some stretching and exercising in a swimming pool to help the muscles and stuff in my knee relax and flex without pain. I still usually needed a pain pill or two during the day sometimes three.

The day they left for the next shows on their tour, he made sure I had the number for his line on the bus, and said not to freak out if his sister showed up without calling first. He also told Emma to behave for me and that he would see us both when he got back.

We watched him leave and waved goodbye. Emma and I had a nice little daily routine, where on days I had my therapy Katie would pick us up, and then she would take Emma to the park or the zoo or someplace like that while I rehabbed my knee, we'd go back to the house and I would make lunch for the three of us.

One sunny afternoon, after we got back and I hobbled my way to the door, (I was stoked as the doctor had given me a smaller brace and replaced my crutches with a cane.)- I unlocked the door and made my way to the kitchen to start lunch while Katie put a sleeping Emma in her playpen. I was startled by a good looking brunette with wavy hair standing in the kitchen. She turned around as soon as she heard my cane on the floor.

"Hi Allison!" I said brightly, "he told me you would come by periodically to check the house while he was gone."

"Don't Hi me" she snarled "how dare you think you can just come waltzing back into my brothers life with some sob story and think he'll take you back after you broke his heart when the two of you were together"

"And don't think you can pin your rugrat on him either!!" she added as she went out back to check things outside.

"Damn! What's her problem?" asked Katie as I started lunch.

"I think she is still harboring bad feeling towards me because he and I broke up after I made a stupid mistake, we remained friends though, and I don't think she likes that." I said.

As I finished making the salad we were going to have for lunch with our soup, Allison came back inside-- "you are more than welcome to stay for lunch." I told her

"Go to hell you backstabbing gold digger!" she spat as she checked the rooms downstairs and then waltzed back into the kitchen and grabbed my cane and started poking me in the knee with it.

"Ow!!, stop it that hurts!!'" I said.

"You are so faking it! She hissed as she continued to poke at my knee"

"Please Allison, you need to stop that really does hurt." I said wincing in pain as I showed her the scar on my knee.

"Your brother and I dated in high school, and yes we remained friends after our split.--he is just helping my daughter and I out till I can get back on my feet. I had to go somewhere where Jake wouldn't find me should he get released." I told her.

"Jake....you mean Katie's brother did this to you? Allison said " Man , I always knew he was a totally pathetic douchebag!!"

I nodded as i grabbed a couple plates for our salad and bowls for our soup.

Allison still glared at me and said "I just don't want to see my brother get hurt again by you, I mean our whole family really liked you and thought you were the best thing to happen to him, we even thought you guys would end up married with a family someday, and then you went and broke his heart."

With that, she left.
