" I trust there will be no outbursts?" Allan asked looking in Donnie and Mark's direction.
"I'll keep him in line Mr. Knight" Donnie politely assured him.
With the sun setting and snow softly falling outside the window, we renewed our vows.
"We come here today, to witness the renewal of the vows and promises that were made by this man...(Allan looked at Jon and paused-it was almost as though he was realizing that his "little boy" was now a grown man with a family of his own, I saw tears in his eyes as he quickly turned away to wipe them) and this woman."
He then said these words to Jon:
"Jonathan, will you promise to love Christina , honor and comfort her through good times and bad in sickness and in health, and keep yourself only unto her until death do you part?"
Jon looked at me lovingly and said, "I Do"
Allan then turned and said these words to me:
Christina, will you promise to love Jonathan, honor and comfort him through good times and bad, in sickness and in health, and will you promise to keep yourself only unto ....my son (that got a few giggles from everyone) until death do you part?"
I looked at Jon and said softly "I Do"
Jon took my rings from Jordan and slid them on my finger and said
" I give you this ring as a symbol of our marriage, for yesterday and today, and for all the days we have yet to come. Continue to wear it as a symbol of my never-ending love for you."
Evelyn handed me Jon's ring and I slid it on his finger I said,
" I give you this ring as a symbol of our marriage, for yesterday and today, and for all the days we have yet to come. Continue to wear it as a symbol of my never-ending love for you."
Allan smiled at us warmly and said, " I now pronounce them to once again and for always to be husband and wife."
I reached up and brushed some tears from eyes as Allan leaned over to Jon and said with a chuckle- "um, son?"
"yes?" Jon said as he gave Emma a smile
"aren't you going to kiss the bride?"
Jon blushed as he chuckled nervously(it was almost like he was a nervous teenager)
He smiled at me as he gently tipped my chin up as he drew me close as he lowered his head as we shared a kiss that was sweeter than any kiss we shared before.
"Family and Friends" Allan said "it is my honor to present once again "Mr and Mrs Jonathan Knight."
Everyone was clapping and smiling, except for Mark--he started booing and hissing! Sharon took the girls upstairs as it was getting late(for them) and they were getting sleepy.
Donnie was incensed! He grabbed the little punk and marched him down to the basement and Jon and I were hot on their heels.
"What the HELL is your damage baby brother?!"
"Jon stole your girl from you, I was trying to stand up for you" he sputtered.
"my girl?!" Donnie fumed "little brother I don't know where you ever got that idea, but Chrissy is not, nor has she ever been my girl!"
"I just wanted those adorable little girls to have their daddy, that's all" Mark added.
"Mark" Jon said rather calmly "I don't know where you got your information from, but, Donnie isn't their daddy--I am."
"Who told you all this crap?" Donnie spat angrily. "I thought you did..." I said to Donnie "aw hell no, I would never say that he said "I'll find out who did though and I'll rip him a new one for Christmas--hell I'll even giftwrap it!!!"
Turns out the liar, was one of Donnie's buddies he'd known since high school.
"He told me after Jon got wasted at your b-day party and passed out you and Chrissy couldn't keep your hands off each other- he also told me that you'd been writing him from the road telling him how much you missed her and the kids."
"Man that is totally wack!" Donnie groaned "dude musta fell off his bike once too often--I mean I haven't talked to him in quite awhile cause he got in with the wrong crowd and was doing drugs."
"its been at least a year or more" Donnie added.
"You'd better hope and pray that Emma didn't hear any of what you said upstairs, if she did, I'll beat the crap outta you myself!" I told Mark. Marlene called down the stairs that it was time for pie, coffee, and cocoa if anyone was interested.
The 3 of us headed for the stairs, and Mark said he would be right up, he just needed time to think.
The other kids and their families wished us well and left, Alma asked Donnie if Mark was through with his outbursts as they needed to leave too and get ready for church.
"he'll be up in a minute ma" Donnie said as Jon and I headed up to look in on the girls. Emma was out like a light, but, Sharon and Jordan couldn't get a fussy Brianna to settle down. Jon took her and told them to go downstairs.
As he rocked her she settled down and was soon fast asleep.
Soon, the house was quiet, and Jon and I headed to bed ourselves.
"Tonight was really special, I don't want it to end." Jon said as we got into bed.
"I know" I sighed as I rested my head against his chest
"If we weren't at my mother's house with my brothers and sisters so close by, we could make it last awhile longer."
I giggled in the dark-the thought of sharing an intimate moment with him at his mom's with everyone so close by was definitely not on my "to do list" either.
