Mr. Starr had the guys on the road so much when we got back it was almost as if he was 'punishing' them for having the 10 days off. The days, weeks, and months flew by and before we knew it Emma was 9 months old and walking and talking. The holidays were also approaching rapidly.

As I folded laundry one day, the phone rang, I assumed it was Jon with his flight info--unfortunately, it was my mom!

"Hi Christina--its mom" she chirped- I looked over at Allison who had just walked in the door and rolled my eyes and made a gagging motion. She stifled a giggle and hung up her jacket.

I smiled and put the phone on hold as Emma toddled over to her and tried to say "Hi Auntie Ali" but it sounded more like "Hi ah e ah e" it was too cute for words.

I picked up the phone and my mother blasted me with "What time are you bringing my granddaughter over for Christmas?" I felt my eyes go wide and my stomach churn there was no way in hell I was going to spend Christmas with her getting Jon and I verbally abused in front of emma--she knew the rules.

"Mom" I said "remember what I told you the last time we were together?" "Yes" she said angrily "that was very uncalled for and rude of you to talk to me like that, in my home."

I put Emma in her high chair so I could feed her, and motioned for Allison to follow me into the bedroom. I left the door ajar and put the phone on speaker.

" Mother" I said surprised and angrily "I laid down those rules because it is Emma's best interest right now, she doesn't need to listen to you bash me and put me down, and she certainly doesn't need to hear the nasty things you are saying about her father."

"That reminds me." she said "are you back with Jake now, or are you still with that lying, deceitful, skirt chasing womanizer that you showed up on my doorstep with?"

Allison's face got red with anger as did mine-- "MOTHER!!! He has a name!" I admonished her "His name is Jon and he is not like that at all, He is sweet, kind, gentle, understanding, he is also a wonderful father, and is very good to Emma." I said.

"He also treats me the way a woman should be treated, and makes me feel the happiest I have felt in years." then without thinking about what I was saying I added, "I love Jon, and I am thankful to have him back in my life."

"NOOOOOO! My mom wailed "you can't possibly be in love with that that that loser!- Jake has always been the perfect match for you, you need to wait until he gets out and hope forgives you and takes you back." she added.

"sorry mother, that will never happen, I can assure you of that.. I never EVER want to see that jerk again!" "Goodbye Mother" and with that I took the phone of speaker and hung it up.

Allison was stunned and said "Whoa! Who spiked her eggnog with a triple shot of extra strength haterade?"

"Not a clue" I chuckled. Allison offered to start feeding Emma for me so I could finish putting the laundry away.

As soon as I finished I headed into the kitchen and took over feeding Emma.

After lunch, I laid her down for her nap and Allison and I sat in the living room and talked.

"Do you really love him?" she asked me "hmm?" I said I was lost in thought thinking about what i had said on the phone. "who??" I added.

"Jon" she said with a giggle-- you told your whacko mother that you loved him.... "If you didn't mean it you should have never told your mom you did."

"I meant it" I told her "I have just been hesitant to tell Jon because I am not sure if he feels the same way about me-though my heart tells me he does."
