Chapter 5

***Extra-long chapter!! Yay!***

Miku carries some grapes over to where Senku was sitting. He was currently crushing grapes with his hands.

"Senku it's going to take forever if you crush the grapes like that," Miku commented

Senku looks up at her, "Miku over the last few months you and I hardly talked. And when we did you always blush and give some type of comment to what I'm doing. The only real conversation that we had was when I first broke out. Even then you always stay quite. How come?"

Miku blushes and replies, "It's like I said before. I talk. I just don't like talking nonsense."

Miku crosses her arms and walks away from Senku. Senku just looks at her not really satisfied with the reply she gave but decided not to force an answer out of her.

After Taiju crushes all of the grapes and stirs the juice they finally had alcohol.

"Yay! It's taste testing time," yelled Miku.

"Umm.. should you be drinking," asks Taiju.

"Should you be drinking? In this stone world, there are no rules. So, of course, it's fine if we drink. Plus we're 3,700 years older," Miku says while smiling.

They all took a sip.

"Ooh! Better than I expected. Even if it's 10 billion times worse than commercial wine," Senku says.

Miku gives him a glare, "How do you know how wine is supposed to taste?"

Senku ignores her and says, "Now it will be more difficult. Let's make some brandy by distilling wine."

"Distillation! What is it," Taiju asks.

"You heat it, cool it and make it drip to increase the alcohol content," Senku explains.

Senku carried out a pot that will be used for distilling. 'When did he make this?' Miku thought. She noticed how the pot didn't look stable.

"Senku that's going to break," Miku commented.

Senku just glares at her.

"I might not be a craftsman but how hard can making a pot be," Senku said while pouring in some wine. As Miku said before, the pot broke.

"Told you," Miku said.

"You're helping me make a new one," Senku tells her.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought the smart and amazing Senku was capable of making pots on his own," Miku says.

"Shut up and help," Senku yells at her.

"Make me," Miku yells back.

That night was filled with pottery making and bickering between Senku and Miku. Taiju desperately trying to get everything under control. Soon enough the pot was done and they were distilling the wine. Winter was starting soon and Miku has just finished with the winter clothes.

It wasn't long until the snow started to fall. While the wine was distilling the others took that time to gather materials. For Senku it was a chance do to more experiments. One day Miku saw Senku just sitting by the distillery. 'I wonder what he's thinking? He's going to get sick just by sitting there.' Miku thought.

Miku grabbed a blanket and walked over to where Senku was. She draped the blanket over him. Senku looks up at her with a confusing look.

"Miku why did you put a blanket over me," Senku questioned.

Miku blushes and says, "I was just trying to be nice and keep you warm."

With that Miku walks away towards the treehouse missing the smile Senku had on his face.

"Hey Senku what are you smiling at," Taiju asks.

Senku just shakes his head and gets up to go back inside. He doesn't even bother to answer his friend considering he doesn't even know why he's smiling.

Spring finally came and it was the moment of truth. Senku, with the help of Miku, tries different combinations to make Nital. Finally, it happened.

"There's no "there are things that science can solve". We call the step by step process of making rules for things we don't understand science," Senku states.

Miku and Taiju look at the swallow in amazement as it breaks out of the stone and flies away.

Miku gave a sigh and sat down, "After one year, after so many experiments, we finally did it."

Senku sat next to her saying, "Yeah, We defeated fantasy with science. This is exciting!"

"Taiju it's thanks to your grapes. You can pick the first person," Senku says.

"Thank you Senku," Taiju says.

Miku throws her hand up in the air, "I won't be th only girl anymore!"

Senku grabs the Nital and starts walking with Taiju towards the tree. Taiju notices Miku staying behind.

"Hey, Miku! Don't you want to come with us," Taiju asked.

Miku smiles at him, "As much as I want to see my friend I have to prepare my gift to her."

"Oh ok. We'll come back soon," Taiju says while waving Miku goodbye.

Miku starts to finish the clothes she was making for Yuzuriha. Unknown to Miku the boys were unable to revive her and were chased by lions. That is until they revived Shishiou Tsukasa. Miku was gathering firewood for that night until she heard Senku's voice.

"Miku we have company."

Miku looked up and saw a strange man walking next to Senku and Taiju carrying Yuzuriha. Taiju placed Yuzuriha at the base of the tree. Then the three boys climbed up into the treehouse. Miku decides to follow and see what the boys are up to.

"To introduce myself properly, I am Shishiou Tsukasa. You can call me Tsukasa."

"In this world, family names are useless. The one with a decent brain is me, Senku. I'm in charge of science stuff. The shorty over there is my assistant, Miku. The one with a simple brain is Taiju. He's in charge of physical labor."

'Shorty!! Assistant!!!' Miku thought. She goes over and hits Senku's arm. Of course, the girl is stronger than him and ends up pushing him back a couple of steps.

Senku rubs his arm and says, "Being my assistant is a privilege."

"What about shorty," Miku asks with her hands on her hips.

"Well, you're shorter than me. Why did you hit my are," Senku says.

"Because I felt like it," Miku says marching out of the treehouse.

"Senku why did you have to make her mad," Taiju asks.

"Why would she be mad at me? She didn't give me a logical reason why she hit me. So one would assume she was mad about something else," Senku says.
