Chapter 29

Season 2 is here!!! and so is another chapter. I haven't forgotten this story. With everything going on I needed a mental break but also a chance to come up with more ideas. Thank you all again for reading my story. I write because I love reading comments and seeing people enjoy my stories. I also waited to post because this chapter goes a little bit into the first episode of season 2. So if you haven't caught up I suggest you go watch it.

"Of course only you would keep quiet about having two," Miku says shaking her head.

"Oh come on Miku. It still has some use," Senku says while grabbing an extension wire.

Miku cocks her head to the side, "Are we making a speaker?"

"Yes, can you set it up where Ruri is while I bring the cord over there?" Senku asks.

Miku nods and grabs the necessary equipment while heading over to Ruri's hut.

After a while, everything was set up at both ends. Senku, Gen, and Miku stood side by side behind Ruri, who sat in front of the speaker.

Soon Chrome's voice could be heard.

"Ruri!! Didja see Ruri?! Crazy right?! Science is insane isn't it?!"

All the villages cheered while exclaiming that they could hear Chrome.

Giggling Miku comments, "That was probably not his finest hour."

"I couldn't agree more," Gen says.

"I don't get it at all. How could something so small talk?" Magma questions.

"It's just like a speaker!" Ruri exclaims.

"It's not like a speaker, it is a speaker. A mic and a speaker both change the sound to electric waves back and forth, so they are essentially the same," Senku explains only to freeze up.

"Ruri what did you say just now? 'It's just like a speaker?'" Senku questions.

The children started yelling that the speaker was a bee.

"A bee?!" Gen and Miku said in unison.

"Err, well, speaker is the name of a species of bee. The 100 stories passed down through Ishigami village. Story 14. Long, long ago there was a bee named speaker that loved to talk. And when a speaker stuck its needle end stinger into a gravestone the voice of the dead would be able to speak," Ruri explains.

"That story hardly passed down any meaningful wisdom. I can't even figure out why this particular one exists," Senku says.

"Well let's break it down. The bee is most likely referring to a record player. Gravestone and voice of the dead...." Miku trails off in thought.

"What's more, it's #14, which in Japanese can be read as 'Ishi.' It's also your birthdate, isn't it, Senku?" Gen explains.

Realization crosses Miku and Senku's faces.

And so everyone headed over to the graveyard. Climbing up the hill to Senku's dad's grave, Senku plucks the gravestone from the ground.

"You could be a bit more gentle with it," Miku says.

"What's wrong? Is there something about that gravestone?" Chrome questions.

"Kukuku, I should have realized sooner. My old man really was a clever one. Only the gravestones of the founders were brought here? That's just 10 billion percent too cryptic. This isn't a gravestone. It's something that's encased stiff in concrete..." Senku starts to say.
