Chapter 18

***To give you all some more info about Miku I imagine her to be Levy's size. (Levy is from Fairy Tail.) So she's small but really strong. Also, I'm terrible at updating.*** ~MiniChewiereads

Now Miku wasn't ashamed of her body. She has more muscle than most girls but comparing her tiny size to Kohaku's made her feel a bit uncomfortable. Especially with Senku around.

The boys and Kohaku jumped into the river leaving Miku on the river bank. 'I really don't want to do this.' Miku thought.

Senku noticed Miku wasn't with them and turned around to see the girl looking hesitant to jump in the river. He walked over to her and held his hand out.

"Come on Miku," Senku says.

Miku blushes and looks away, "I've never really gone swimming in public before."

Senku grabs her hand and pulled her towards him. Miku wasn't expecting it and ended up bumping into Senku's chest.

"It's not that different from swimming class," Senku says not realizing what he was doing to the poor girl.

Miku was a blushing mess and just nodded. She grabbed the magnet and went off further into the river.

'I wonder why Miku was so nervous.' Senku thought.

Later on without Kohaku and Miku knowing, Senku and Chrome lounged around on a rock nearby. For some reason seeing Miku's hair down and her smiling made Senku feel something inside. He shook his head and said, "Miku fits in perfectly here with the lioness."

"There are a few gorillas with superhuman strength but Kohaku is the only nimble gorilla," Chrome states.

Senku looked over and was barely able to dodge the rock thrown at him. He noticed it was Miku who threw it at him. He was about to open his mouth and say something but Miku beat him to it.

"You mister better not say a word and start helping gathering black sand," Miku says with her hands at her waist.

"Yeah how come Miku and I are doing all the work? You two should also work more nimbly," Kohaku says while going over and hitting Chrome on the head.

Miku goes over towards Senku and pulls him in the river. Miku might have used a bit more strength than necessary because the next thing she knew was that Senku was on top of her.

Miku was red like a tomato and Senku surprisingly had a pink tint on his cheeks.

"S-Sorry," Miku mumbled.

"No I'm sorry," Senku says while getting over of Miku and lending her a hand up.

Miku walked away very embarrassed by what just happened while Senku just stood there with a hand over his heart. 'Why does that girl make my heart skip? Wait! It can't be that I like Miku. No not right now. Miku is this why you act weird around me?' Senku thinks while looking over at Miku. He smiles at her and shakes his head. 'Miku you really are an amazing girl.'

It was a little while later that Senku noticed a melon coming up the river.

"WOAH!?" Chrome yelled out while the melon popped out of the water.

"Oh, If it isn't Suika! Whatcha doing here? Did you follow us?" Asked Kohaku.

"Suika is her name?" Senku asked Chrome.

"It's a nickname. Probably because she wears a melon rind as a hat," Chrome explains.

"She's so cute!" Miku squealed.

Suika holds up Chrome's magnet. Chrome goes over and takes it from her saying, "Ah! Hey Suika you little brat! Don't just hold my magnet however you like!!"

"How did she get your magnet Chrome?" Miku asks with her arms crossed.

Chrome noticed there was iron sand on the magnet.

"Suika wants to help out too. Because I'm always wearing this, I've never been of any use to anyone. Even when I grow up, I'm sure it will still be that way. Because of that, if there's someone who's in need Suika will..."

Suika is cut off by Chrome, "Ahhh... enough with the chit-chat."

"In truth, I'm grateful. The Kingdom of Science sends no one away. We need all of the help we can get, no matter how small. It seems a pipsqueak is one billion times better suited to gathering the sand. Kukuku I'm counting on you Suika," Senku says while handing Suika a magnet.

Senku walks off with Miku following behind him.

"That was sweet of you Senku," Miku says.

Senku just smirks and says, "The more villagers we have on our side the better."

Miku sighed, "So you only said that to get the poor girl to stay."

Senku looks at Miku and sees her giving him a glare.

"Why are you mad?" Senku asks.

"I'm not mad! Why do you always assume I'm mad?!" Miku yells at him.

'This girl is so confusing,' Senku thinks.

Before he could respond both Miku and Senku hear Chrome yell out, "Are you Momotaro?! Don't drown!!"

"You didn't know about Dragon Quest or Monster Hunter, but you know the story of "Momotaro?" Senku asks.

"Yeah Who did you hear it from?" asks Miku.

"Oh you two know Momotaro too?" Chrome asks.

"Miss Ruri tells us a ton of stories!" Suika explains.

Kohaku and Chrome proceeded to tell Senku and Miku about the stories Ruri tells them.

"Kukuku, this Ruri lady really piques my interest. All the more important then that we make the cure-all and save her," Senku says.

"What do you mean she piques your interest?" Miku asks.

"Yeah Senku what do you mean by that?" Chrome asks.

Senku looks at them confused until Kohaku give him the hint that Chrome likes Ruri. yet he was still confused as to why Miku was upset about him being interested in Ruri. He just wanted to learn about how she knew so much. After they gathered enough sand they all headed back to the storehouse. Senku wanted to asks Ruri some questions.

"Come along Miku," Senku says.

"No. If you're so interested in Ruri you go ask her yourself," Miku says while crossing her arms and looking away from him.

Senku was beyond confused. 'What is with Miku today?'

"Why doesn't Chrome go with you Senku while Miku stays here," Kohaku says.

Senku just shrugs his shoulders and goes off towards the village with Chrome following him.

Kohaku then turns around and smirks at Miku.

Miku immediately getting the idea, "Oh no. I am not telling you anything."

"You don't have to. It's pretty obvious that you like Senku," Kohaku says only for Miku to grab her shoulders.

"Please don't tell him. Science is something he cares about so much. I don't want him to stray from his dreams," Miku says while putting her head down.

Kohaku nods and says, "Alright. But Miku you should consider what you want as well. You'll end up breaking your own heart if you don't tell him."

Miku nods and gives Kohaku a hug.
