Chapter 10

***Finally an update. I've been really taking my time with this story and trying to really show more of Senku and Miku's relationship. Further on I feel it will blossom more. While writing this I realize that Senku has to fall in love with Miku slowly. Love is new to him and who knows what will lie ahead. Anyways, this chapter will have a warning because there is a warning in the manga and anime as well. This is all actual science that must just be read and NOT PRACTICE. DO NOT ATTEMPT! "YAY! We can finally make gunpowder," Miku yelled out happily.

"Should we be trusting her around gunpowder," asked Yuzuriha nervously.

"Of we can. Now then, it's time for our fun gunpowder cooking," Senku says.

"Yay! The first ingredient for gunpowder is Sulfur," Miku says.

"Right. Now just by burning some wood, we attain the second ingredient, charcoal," Senku says.

"Wait a minute. Senku did you make saltpeter in advance?," Miku asked.

"I sure did," said Senku.

"Huh? That salt something. Where have I heard that?," Taiju said while thinking. Then it came to him, "That acid! The miracle water! Did you get that from the cave?!"

"Your block-head was unusually right for once. 100 billion points for you," Senku says while mixing in the last ingredient."

"Saltpeter 75%, Sulphur 10%, and Charcoal 15%. And a dash of sugar for potency," Miku says happily.

"Now the last step is to hit and harden it," Senku says.

Miku nodded and ran off to get the stone hammer that she made for this occasion. Yuzuriha and Senku just see her runoff. Both people confused as to why she just ran away.

Taiju lifts up a big rock and says, " Hitting is it?! Leave the heavy lifting to me!!"

Yuzuriha tries to stop him, "I-i-isn't that too much? If Taiju hits it with all his might then the gunpowder might ignite like flint."

"Actually, no, you can't get a spark by hitting two of the same kind of rock," Senku explains.

Taiju then went ahead and slammed the rock he was carrying on some other rocks that were nearby.

"You can't just use any old rock for flint. It has to have some iron in it for a spark to....," Senku's eyes then widen as he remembered the rocks near the volcano does have iron in it.

However, it was too late. Taiju slammed down the rock he was holding onto the gunpowder creating a spark. While three friends just looked at the sparks, Senku and Yuzuriha felt someone pull them away from the gunpowder before it exploded.

Once the explosion died down Miku got up and said, "Is everyone ok?"

Everyone confirms that they're fine and Miku sighs, "Well Senku, that was one way to test if it worked."

"Miku how are you so calm?" Yuzuriha asked.

"Well someone has to keep a level head," Miku response.

"With this, we will fight Tsukasa?" Yuzuriha asked.

"No, with this we will make an exchange," Senku says.

"Tsukasa is not a killing machine past all communication. He mentioned it before when he fought with Taiju that he is willing to negotiate. With this gunpowder, we can dominate this war," says Miku.

While Taiju and Yuzuriha give out a sigh of relief, Miku and Senku look at each other and nod knowing if the time came they would have to kill Tsukasa.

"Okay hurry and put out the fire," Senku says.

As Yuzuriha was getting more water she notices something in the distance.

"Taiju-Kun, Senku-Kun, Miku-chan look over there," Yuzuriha says.

The other three look over to and see a smoke signal.

"Tsukasa?" asks Yuzuriha.

"No, that's the opposite direction. More importantly, Tsukasa wouldn't give away his position to us," Senku explains.

"Then what is it?! A forest fire?!" asks Taiju.

"No, it's obvious this is a reaction to our smoke. The timing is just right. This means that in this stone world there are other people out there," Miku explains.

'From their point of view, wouldn't they think our explosion was probably the volcano? If we don't light another beacon.....but if somehow Tsukasa did follow us? If we let him know our position, we're screwed. That illogical "intuition" of mine is telling me what to do. If we light it now.' Senku thought.

'If we light it now there's a possibility that these people could be friendly and can help us. We have to light it up.' Thought Miku.

"What will we do Senku? Should I put it out? Or light it up?" asks Taiju.

Senku and Miku look at each other and both say, "Light it up! Light up the beacon!"

"We have to keep tossing in anything that'll burn," Miku says while tossing in some sticks.

"Hang on, I'll go get some wood!!," Taiju yells while running off with Yuzuriha.

While the two went off to get wood Miku went over to her bang and pulled out a bow and a quiver of arrows. Senku looked at her confused.

"When did you have time to make that?" Senku asks.

"Well, how do you think I hunt small animals? Plus it's the only weapon that we have that can provide us some protection. If we had enough time I could have made exploding arrows," Miku says.

Senku just pats her head and smiles, "You're something else Miku."

Miku just blushes and says, "Umm, we should continue to light up the beacon."

Senku nodded and went back to placing wood in the fire while Miku guarded the area. Off in the distance, Miku's eyes widen at seeing Yuzuriha being held captive by Tsukasa. She aims at them and says, "Senku, we have a problem."

Senku doesn't turn around but says in a calm tone, "Trust me Miku."
