(Betty's POV)
Embarrassed wasn't even close to what I was feeling. I was sitting on my bed, the blanket wrapped around my body. I could still feel the disgusting taste of puke in my mouth. But more importantly, I still knew where he touched me. The way his hands ran up and down my back. I remembered the way his tongue had moved against mine. God, I remembered everything and that was the most embarrassing thing. I gave myself a facepalm and wanted to smack my head against the wall. When I tried to stand up, I almost fell again.
Wohoo, first hangover. Not only the worrying gave me a headache, but also the remaining alcohol. I closed my eyes to make my head stop hurting. Suddenly I realized that my parents couldn't see me like that. Quickly I locked my door and went to the bathroom. In the mirror, I couldn't recognize myself. The bags underneath my eyes were dark and showed how tired I was. I was still wearing the dress and makeup from last night so I decided to take a shower, hoping that it would make me feel better. But when the water came running down my body I thought about Sweetpea again and suddenly I let out a moan. I covered my mouth in shock and hurried to get ready.
Back in my room, I got dressed in a blue pastel shirt and skinny black jeans, put my hair in a high ponytail and took a pill against my terrible headache. Then I realized that I had a big fat love bite on my neck. "Sweetpea, for God's sake," I whispered towards my mirror reflection. Luckily it was raining today so I could wear a scarf without anyone suspecting something.
Then I finally walked downstairs to find my sister and my parents in a heavy discussion. Well, actually only Mum was talking. Polly was crying and Dad just sat there with an angry expression.
My mother turned around. "Hey, Betty. Will you go to the kitchen, please? Polly and I need to talk. Alone. Breakfast is ready, don't wait for us." I knew how to act around my mother when she was screaming at Polly, so I nodded and smiled as politely as possible.
In the kitchen, I finally ate something. My stomach felt weird after I had thrown up yesterday so I tried to eat as light as possible.
For the first time this day I checked my phone and almost spit out my cereal when I saw "5 missed calls by Sweetpea". As quietly as possible I ran out of the kitchen, back upstairs and dialed his number.
"Sweetpea? You called five times? What's up. Where are you? Did something happen?"
"Yes, but you weren't there."
"Excuse me? You were the one who left tonight! Also, I'm not obligated to answer my phone at all times," I snapped at him. The guilt and shame of last night took over my mind.
I heard him breathe into his phone. "Nothing happened yesterday, understood?"
I bit my lip, I knew I wanted the same thing — to forget what had happened yesterday. Just like he did. But I couldn't. His damn soft lips and these hands. He made me crazy and I didn't even know him for more than two weeks.
"Nothing happened," I whispered. I expected him to hang up in order to end the conversation but he didn't. It was just silence, him breathing into the phone.
"I- I need money, Betty. Can you help me?" Money? Was he seriously trying to use me now? Or wait... Was he asking me as a friend? Did he really need help? What was going on?
"You don't have to. It's not that important. Sorry for bothering. We'll do the project on Monday, right?" he said.
"Yeah. Okay, how about we talk about this over a burger at Pop's?" I answered him slowly. If he needed money, I'd like to discuss for what.
"Okay. See you there at three? I have a job to do before that."
"Alright. See you later, Sweetpea." He hung up.
Then I got another call. Veronica.
"Bitch. Sweetpea's mother slept with my Dad. You may never ever speak to him again."
