(Betty's POV)

"Veronica, I'm pretty sure that I can be friends with whoever I want and as you might remember, you and I are not friends anymore. Also, why are you judging him for what his mother did?" I told her, as calm as possible. It was so pathetic of her trying to tell me what I can and can’t do. Sweetpea was right, I was playing this game of being perfect but I was so tired of it. Tired of always just being what everyone wanted me to be.

"You've got to be kidding me, Betty. He is a serpent, a criminal! And his Mum stole our things." Veronica sounded so angry but at this point I didn't care about what she said. Her loud voice was just terrible for my hangover.

"Look, Veronica. I don't care and I will continue to be..." I hesitated. He and I have made out, we have fought, we have had deep conversations, we slept in the same bed, he has cared about me. So, were we still just friends?

"Friends with him." I decided to use that word since I wasn't sure what we were. She sighed loudly into the phone.
"Fine, loser. You will regret this though."
Then she hung up. That girl was giving me a headache. Or was it still the alcohol in my blood? Or the thoughts about Sweetpea's lips on mine?

God, I missed his lips, his touch. I craved him giving me love again. I craved making love with him so badly that it made me feel empty inside.

--- later at Pop's ---
I was sitting in the booth. Yes, THE booth. The one we sat on our meeting about the school project. Or had it been a date? I closed my eyes for a second and I shivered because the memory of his hands on my arms and his lips on mine was so vivid it seemed real.

I heard the bell announcing that someone entered the restaurant and it was the guy I was waiting for. He looked stressed and kind of freaked out as well.

He quickly ordered a milkshake and I stared at my own when I realized that we ordered the same. Chocolate. It wasn't my usual, I just felt a strong need for chocolate today. Always vanilla has gotten boring.

Then he sat down in front of me and for a minute we just silently looked at each other. He looked tired. I gulped. "So..." I began. Sweetpea's chocolate eyes were so distracting I couldn't think clearly.

"You left this morning," I stated. It intentionally wasn’t a question, I just wanted him to know that I noticed. His expression was emotionless. "Yeah."

I sighed and took a sip of my milkshake. "Go ahead, tell me about why you called. And please speak quietly, I have the worst hangover ever."

Sweetpea chuckled and that made me smile as well, he was so adorable when he showed little signs that he was comfortable around me.

"My mum slept with Hiram Lodge and then stole his egg." I raised my eyebrow. "His egg? Isn't that like assault?" I answered.

"Betty, not his egg-like... You know. No, it's some type of decoration but pretty expensive apparently. And now they want the money from my mom."

"Can't she just give it back?" I asked.

Sweetpea shook his head. "No, they think it's not enough. She has to pay thousands of dollars, how am I supposed to get that. I'm- I mean we are barely surviving anyways."

Wow, that was a really bad story. "Oh dang that sucks." Oh dang that sucks, seriously Betty? God, am I pathetic.

"Isn't it weird though that your mom is the one whose fault it is? I mean isn't Hiram Lodge married?"

Sweetpea looked me dead in the eye. "You're rich people. You don't care. Love doesn't exist for you."

Doesn't it?
