(Sweetpea's POV)
She smelled like peaches. Like summer. Like vanilla. How can a girl smell so good?
My arms were wrapped around her body, more specifically her waist. I didn't know if this was comfortable for her but I hoped it was.
Thinking back to last night, it was the best night I've ever had. Betty and I had talked a lot about the shows we were watching and we had laughed. She had laughed so much that her eyes started watering and then I started tickling her. She tried being quiet for a long time but then she bursted out in laughter again and I quickly stopped so no one would come to her room. Polly had knocked once but Betty said that she would talk to her tomorrow again, that she would prefer to sleep.
Polly seemed like a nice girl. Betty told me about her pregnancy. It must be hard for a girl that age to be pregnant.
I felt Betty move in my arms and I gave her a light kiss on her head, on her hair. She looked like an angel and If I'd be honest there was not a thing I enjoyed more than lying here with her. Betty, my angel.
She woke up, sadly. I knew she would eventually but watching her sleep was so wonderful to me. Although I had to admit that my arm was asleep and it would be nice to move it so that tingly feeling would go away.
"You're still here," Betty whispered. Her voice was still sleepy since she just woke up but I enjoyed her talking to me all the time.
"Where else would I be?" I answered and she turned around to face me.
"Ew, you need to brush your teeth," She groaned and I laughed.
"That's what I get for holding you all night?" I asked playfully and softly punched her on the shoulder. She smiled and I did too. I always had to. Her smile was powerful, sweet and just everything I wanted.
"Thank you for staying the night with me, but seriously, brush your teeth. It's disgustaaang." Betty put the blanket away and opened the window to get some air in.
"Fine, mommy," I groaned and stood up as well. Luckily her room was directly connected to the bathroom and she had it for herself. I don't even have a room, oh well.
When I came back she was still standing near the window, gazing outside. Her pastel blue pajamas had tiny little owls on them and I loved it. I loved her cute style, she looked so innocent. But she was more than that. She got me more than anyone else.
Her blonde hair almost seemed like in those advertisements for hair conditioner where they show you how beautiful hair can be. I bet she has one of these. Shampoo.
"You okay?" I asked and decreased our distance. My arms searched for her waist again and pulled her close to me from behind.
"Yeah."
We were just standing there. Enjoying each other's company. Existing. As if we had never done anything else. Like we were meant to be just for that moment. Where the sun meets her eyes and lets them shine like stars in the night. Where I can feel her breathing in and out. Where I get butterflies by holding her. Butterflies, yeah butterflies.
Betty eventually broke the silence by turning around. Now that she was facing me I was able to see her beautiful face again.
"I'm so glad that I have you," she stated and gave me a soft little kiss.
"Me too, Betts."
"What do you want to do now? I don't think it would be a good idea if you came with me downstairs to eat something..."
I looked away. "I'll just go to Pop's. It's okay. I had you all night, your family can have you for a little time now."
Betty put her hand on my cheek and turned it towards her. "You're always welcome here. And I want you to meet my parents. Just not... Like that, if you get what I mean."
"I'll text you."
I felt honored that she wanted me to meet her parents so I hug her for a minute and then leave. It was time again. To see my mother. To give her the money.
