"His whole body's changing." Sakura said. "He's turning red!" Naruto yelled. Lee yelled as more power surrounded him. "What's it mean? What's happening?" Kankuro asked. "He's opened the Third Gate. The Gate of Life. Now he'll attack." Kakashi said. "Oh, no. Not yet." Guy said.
"The Fourth Gate. Gate of Pain. Open!" Lee yelled and more veins started to pop out. "Incredible. No one can do that through sheer effort alone. The boy's truly a genius!" Kakashi said. Lee moved and the whole floor basically broke. He kicked under Gaaras chin. All the impact from Lee's speed hit us. We all covered our eyes trying to stay in place. "He's faster than ever!" Kakashi said.
After the impact already blew by Naruto said "woah" and Kankuro yelled "Gaara!" We looked around and Naruto asked "Where'd they go?" "Up there!" Shikamaru said and we all looked up to see Gaara flying up. "There's Gaara, but what happened to Lee?" Ino asked. "He's just gone." Choji said looking around.
The sand slowly rose next to Gaara. The sand isnt fast enough to protect him. "Hiding behind that sand armor again, eh? Well, we will see about that." Lee yelled appearing randomly. He jumped on top of Gaara and hit him down. As Gaara was falling down Lee appeared under him and hit him up. Lee was just hitting him one way and hitting him another way. He did it for a solid minute of just hitting back and fourth. Gaara's armor was crumbling away with each hit.
"You are a tough one." Lee yelled and kicked Gaara up. He jumped down and jumped back up and he was slowly putting his hand into a fist. You can tell his muscles are tearing themselves apart. "One more, and we are finished! The Big Gate, Gate of Closing, open!"
Lee punched Gaara straight into the stomach. Gaara was falling down with great speed, but Lee wrapped bandages around Gaaras torso and he yanked on it causing Gaaras back to move weirdly. The sand followed behind them but just couldn't keep up. Lee pulled the bandages towards him and had his leg out. "Now to finish it. Hidden Lotus!" Lee yelled as Gaara went right into Lees stomach.
When they hit the floor we had to cover out face again from the impact. Lee yelled in pain. The gourd on Gaaras back cracked and it started turning into sand. Lee hit the floor and started rolling. "Unbelievable. He did it!" Naruto yelled. "Gaara!" Kankuro yelled. "Is it over?" Sakura asked.
The dirt slowly began to fade and we were no able to see somewhat. "What's that? Down there." Ino said. I looked closer and saw Gaara just lying there gasping. He slowly stuck out his arm. So he cushioned his fall by turning his gourd into sand. He lifted his hands so it was towards Lee.
Lee tried to crawl away but he wasnt able to. He turned his head towards Gaara. A hand of sand started moving towards Lee. "I know what's coming now." Shino said. Lee tried to stand up but he fell down again. I felt my heart throb for a second when I saw Lee's facial expression. He continued to try to crawl but the sand met up with him. It first grabbed his leg and then his arm. Lee yelled in pain as he tried to get away. "Sand coffin." Gaara closed his fist.
Lee yelled so loud in pain. Lee fell back and slid. He laid there not moving but more sand was coming at him. "Now you die." Gaara said coldly. Hayate looked shocked for a moment. A green thing appeared infront of Lee, causing the sand to break apart. It was Guy.
Guy jumped infront of Lee and smacked the incoming sand away. Gaara looked surprised for a second but soon grabbed his head "But why? He failed. Unh.. Why save him?" Gaara asked. "Because he's- because he's, he's my student. And also because he's precious to me." Gaara stood up and the sand turned into the gourd again. Gaara walked off saying "I quit."
"He what? He quits?" Sakura asked. "But it's too late for Lee. He lost the match the minute Guy intervened." Kakashi said. Hayate lifted his arm "The winner is- uh?" We all gasped noticing that Lee was standing. "It can't be!" Guy gasped. Lee stood strong in his stance. His arm was limp with blood running down and his back leg was shaking as blood covered it.
Guy ran to Lee and put his hand on his shoulder. "No, Lee. It's alright. It's all over now. Anyway, you're in no condition to-...Lee.. Oh, Lee. What have I done?" Guy said crying. "Look at you. Not even conscious, and still determined to show the world what you can do." Guy added. I saddened my expression as I watched. "He's out cold. Nothing keeping him up but sheer will power." Kakashi said. "Lee, you've already proven it. You are a splendid ninja." Guy said crying. He hugged Lee and he finally closed his eyes.
"The winner is Gaara." Hayate said having his arm out towards Gaara. Gaara scoffed as he watched Guy and Lee. "Lee!" Sakura said about to jump over the railing. "Sakura. There is nothing you can do for him right now. There are times when sympathetic words only make things worse." Kakashi said causing Skaura to stop.
Guy laid Lee on the floor and Hayate walked over to them. I growled a bit and jumped over the railing with Naruto. Naruto and I ran towards Lee but we had to pass Gaara. As we were running I made eye contact with Gaara. I had a sad expression on my face when I saw that he looked like he didnt care at all. Naruto and I ran by Lee's side as medics did too. "Hurry! This boy needs attention." Hayate said.
When we made it to Lee's side I covered my mouth so I wouldn't make a noise. "Uh, uh. Bushy Brow.." Naruto said. Lee was laying there with one leg and one arm all bloody and beaten up. Oh, Lee...
Naruto and I backed up behind Guy so the medics could have space as they picked him up. One of the medics gasped and looked up at Guy. "You are his teacher, aren't you?" the medic asked. "I am. What is it?" "Will you.. come with me?" He asked pointing his arm out and walking off. Guy soon followed him. One medic said "Careful with him." The other said "that's right. Easy." They put him on the stretcher and one of the other medics ran off. Naruto and I walked closer to Lee and looked down at him. We heard the medic that was with Guy talk.
"The boy's breathing is faint, but steady. There are tons fractured and muscle tears throughout his body. He's facing a long and difficult rehabilitation. But I'm afraid that not the worst of it." There was a long silence. "His left arm and leg in particular have suffered massive damage. I'm sorry. I know how much it means to you both, but he'll never fight again. His days as a Shinobi are over."
Guy, Naruto, and I widened our eyes. The medic bowed and walked back to Lee. They picked him up and his face was right in front of ours "No. He's wrong. He's wrong. It can't be true." Naruto whispered angrily. I just squeezed my jacket as I clenched my jaw. Guy walked over to us almost crying and he just stared at Lee.
The medics walked off with Lee. I felt my body tremble a bit. There's no way that he's done. Lee would never let that happen. "Its not true. It can't be true! Easy for you to say it's over! What about Bushy-Brow? What's he supposed to do now? Failure! I thought you said we could win! I thought you were going to show how a failure can-" "Naruto.." I whispered. "It was a lie, wasnt it?" Naruto said quieter. Kakashi appeared behind Naruto with a hand over his mouth. "That's enough, Naruto."
Naruto slapped his arm away "But Sensei, it isnt fair! All he ever wanted was to prove himself against Sasuke and Neji." Naruto said with his voice cracking a bit. "And maybe that's what led to his downfall. He was fixated on that gowl that he sacrificed his body, his future, to attain it. And now that goal is unattainable. But you're wrong about one thing, Naruto. It wasn't just Sasuke and Neji he was thinking of. It was you, too. That's right. He risked everything just for the hope of meeting you in combat. Remember that." Kakashi put his hand on his head "Be worthy of his sacrifice." Kakashi added.
Gaara watched as they took away Lee. After they went out of the room Guy turned around and put his head down. Gaara turned into sand and appeared next to Temari. "Good to have you back, Gaara." Temari said but Gaara didnt answer. Kakashi put his arm on Narutos shoulder. He turned around to look at Guy. He walked over to Guy "Guy." "Huh?" "What I said earlier, it was out of line. I was being a self-righteous fool. I realize now that if I'd been in your shoes, I probably couldn't have stopped him either."
Kakashi looked back at Naruto for a second. "Come on, Guy. Let's go up. They can't start the next match with us standing here" Kakashi said "Right." Guy said not facing us. We walked back to the stairs and the whole time I just held onto Narutos jacket.
"Now then, the last two competitors. Will you please step forward?" Hayate said. The sound village guy and Choji walked up to each other. "Alright. The 12th and final match will begin."
