Chapter 87

Tsunade hit the ground and made a huge crack. Naruto fell into the crack and shot the jutsu into the ground. The impact of the jutsu made him go back a bit and landing between the crack. I walked quickly over there to help Naruto up and so did the other lady with Tsunade. He was flapping his arms and legs around trying to get out. The lady and I pulled him out and he was breathing heavily while on his knees.

"Naruto, are you alright?" The lady asked. Naruto was coughing trying to catch his breath. "Jiraiya! Are you the one who taught this little kid the Rasengan?" Tsunade asked. I widened my eyes for a second Rasengan? "Well, of course I did. I'm their teacher, aren't I? I taught the other one too. What of it?" Pervy sage said. "You and the Fouth Hokage are the only ones who can use that jutsu. What's the point of teaching it to someone who can never master it? You old fool! Giving them false hopes like that. Filling their heads with stupid ideas. Making him think he could actually be Hokage some day." Tsunade shouted.

Naruto stood up "I'll show you who's stupid! Just wait! Just wait! Give us just three days, and we'll have that jutsu down flat!" Naruto shouted. Whaa- three days? Why does he always being me into his bets!! "Heh. Watch what you say, kid. I might just hold you to it." Tsunade said. "Heh. I said it, and I never go back on my word. That's my nindo- my ninja way!" Naruto said grinning. Tsunade looked taken back for a second and asked "Well then, care to make a bet on it?"

"A bet?" Naruto asked. "I'll give you one week. If you can master that jutsu by then, I'll admit I'm wrong, and that you're worthy of becoming Hokage. I'll even throw in my necklace." Tsunade said. "Lady Tsunade, no! No, you dont really mean that." The lady said standing up. "Ah, you can keep it. I'm not really into jewelry."  Naruto said putting his hands behind his head. "You numbskull. That necklace belonged to the first Hokage himself. There are only two like it in the world. Why, that little thing is worth three gold mines, and the mountains on top of 'em." Pervy sage said. Naruto looked forward towards the necklace and drooled with money signs in his eyes.

"Lady, you've got yourself a bet." Naruto said smiling. I hope he doesn't end up selling it, it seems like it's pretty valuable. "Alright. However, if even one of you doesnt master it in a week, you lose and admit I was right. And I get the money in froggy." Tsunade said holding up Gama. "Dwa- not Gama!" He looked into his pockets "Wait a second!" He yelled.

The lady walked over to Tsunade "Lady Tsunade, what are you doing? How could you gamble with the necklace?" "He hasn't a chance of winning. Let's go, Shizune." Tsunade said and started to walk off.

I was about to go to bed when there was a knock at the door. I walked over to Naruto and looked at the door. "What the- who could that be at this time of night?" I asked. They knocked again. Naruto and I walked over to the door "Okay, okay. I'm coming already." Naruto said. "Hold your-" Naruto said and before he could open the door, it opened itself. When the door was open enough we saw the lady before, Shizune.

"Shizune?" I asked surprised to see her at this time of night. "I know it's awfully late. I'm sorry, but I must talk to you." She said. "I want to get a good night's sleep, cause I'm going to start training first thing in the morning." Naruto said. "That's just it. Before you get into this, there's something you must know about the necklace. And also about Lady Tsunade." Shizune said. "Ha! I couldn't care less about that crazy old bat." Naruto said. "Dont say that! She's not the type of person you think she is. What right have you- you don't know anything about her!" She shouted.

She seemed shocked for a second "Please forgive me. I didnt mean to shout. Lady Tsunade wasn't always like that. She used to be so kind, dedicated to the village, but she's changed. But ever since that day-" Shizune said looking down. "Huh? What day's that? .. Talk, already. Since what day?" Naruto asked. "The day she lost all she had. Dreams, hopes. Everything. She had nothing left after that, except the necklace, and all of its memories. Please understand that necklace is more precious than life for her. It's not simply a piece of jewelry to be gambled away on a silly bet."

"Look, a bet's a bet. Anyway, it was her idea, not mine." Naruto said. "You'll be sorry if you think it's something you'll he able to wear like a trophy. This is not just any necklace. It won't accept anyone else wearing it. Only on Lady Tsunade does it remain safe. When anyone else puts it in, they die."

I had my hand over my mouth. I never realized that Tsunades back story was so..sad and traumatizing. "So you see? That was the day. It changed her. Shes been in torment ever since" Shizune said. Naruto started to walk pass me and Shizune. "Where are you going?" Shizune asked. "Out. I need to start training." Naruto said and walked out of the door. I sighed "Sorry Shizune. I was forced to be part of the bet. I must train with him so I don't bring him down." I said putting on my shoes.

"You understood what I just told you, right? That necklace, it's-" "I know. I'm not the one getting the necklace. Naruto is the kind of person who will continue until the end. The bet was made and that's final for him." I said standing up and walking towards the door. "But- aren't you even worried?" Shizune asked. "Naruto is strong. Even if that necklace doesn't like him, I know Naruto wouldn't let himself die until he makes it to his dream. He'll be Hokage." I walked out the door and shut it.

Naruto and I were on our backs breathing heavily. It's not quite there yet. It's like the first step if it, it's just making the designs. "There's no way. I'm totally out of gas. Just gotta try it again tomorrow." Naruto said. "Ngh. One more time.." I said standing up. I must do it so Naruto doesn't fail the bet. I can't bring him down.
