Chapter 53

"You can do it!" Shikamaru yelled. "Fatso!" Ino yelled. Choji had an irk mark appear and he yelled "okay! I'm going to finish this match. It's only going to take about two seconds, and then I'm coming after you, Ino!" "Fine, fatso. If you want this match to end quickly, I'll just win it quickly." Dosu said. Choji turned his head back at him and and grumbled "You're going to go down hard, you mummified weirdo."

Those two already know each others technique so this probably wont be a long fight. "Ninja art- Expansion Jutsu!" Choji yelled and he turned into a ball basically. "Now, the Hidden Leaf Style Taijutsu." Choji made this weird noise as each limb went into his ball shape. "Human boulder! Chubbies rule!" Choji yelled as he rolled towards Dosu. "Yeah, alright! Choji, you can do it! Crush him good for me!" Ino yelled.

Each time Choji rolled towards Dosu, he would just jump out of the way. Dosu stood against the wall and Choji went rolling towards him. "Choji, dont go towards the-!" a loud crashing noise appeared "wall..." I said lowering my head. Dosu jumped out of the way and now Choji was stuck in the wall. Dosu jumped up and punched the meatball. His arm went straight into it and didnt exactly affect anything. "Its no use. My ears are covered." Choji yelled "You are so wrong." Dosu said.

He flicked his arm gadget and a loud ping noise caused Choji to deflate. "See, the human body is 70% water, and water can transmit sound waves. In other words, when it comes to my attacks, your whole body is basically one big ear." Dosu said. "The winner is Dosu Kinuta." Hayate said. Well, that was actually way faster then I thought..

The medics ran to Choji and asked "Hey, are you alright?" "Meat- I want to eat some meat." Choji said. "That's our Choji, always thinking with his stomach." Shikamaru said. "Uh-huh." Ino said. "Even though he lost, the least we can do is take him out for some barbecue beef." Asuma sensei said.

"And with that match, the third exam preliminaries are now finished." I sighed and relaxed a bit. I feel like this has been going on forever.

Hayate said that all the people who won to come down. "I commend all those who have advanced to the finals for the third level of Chunin Exams. Well, there's one person missing, but still, congratulations." Hayate said. "And now, I will begin the explanation of the final rounds." The Hokage said. "In the final rounds, each of you will put your battle skills on display. You'll demonstrate the power and control that you've achieved in your respective disciplines. Accordingly, the final battles will commence one month from now."

"Wait, we're not going to do it right here and now?" Naruto asked. "This is to provide a suitable period of preparation." The Hokage said. "What do you mean by that?" Neji asked. "Simply this- in addition to announcing the conclusion of the preliminary matches to each country's leaders, we must also have some time to prepare and distribute the summons for the final selection. Not to mention that you examinees are going to need time to prepare for something that is this important."

This won't be a vacation. Theres no time to waste on relaxing. Naruto and I have got to train harder than ever. I wonder how Sasuke in right now.. "Now, with all of that behind us, I'd like to begin winding things up. But before we can bring this to an end, first there is one more important matter to take care of for the final rounds." The Hokage said and I sighed. "Let's get on with it. I mean, come on! How long do we have to wait until we start training?" Naruto asked.

"In a calm, orderly fashion, all of you are going to take one slip of paper from the box that Anko is holding." Hokage said. "Everyone just stay where you are. I'll come to you. Just take one" Anko said walking up to Dosu. Naruto was standing next to Dosu and I was standing next to Naruto. I grabbed a paper and opened: 10.

"Good. Now everyone has one. Going from left to right, tell me the number that's written on you slip of paper." Ibiki said. "I've got eight." Dosu said. "Number one, of course." Naruto said "Ten" I said "Seven." Temari said "Five." Kankuro said "Three." Gaara said "Nine." Shikamaru said "Two." Neji said. "Six." Shino said. "Eleven" a voice I didn't know said. I turned my head to see who it was. It was a guy I didn't even notice before. Oh, he must've fought when I was in the restroom cleaning myself up.

"And that means Sasuke will be number four." Ibiki said. "Right. Very good. And now I'm going to tell you about how the final selection tournament is going to work." The Hokage said. "Ehh??" Naruto yelled. "Is that what the numbers are for? Drawing lots?" Shikamaru asked. "Ibiki, you may reveal which ninja have been paired up." The Hokage said.

"Yes, sir." Ibiki took a step forward and turned his clipboard around. I widened my eyes. No! Since I dont recognize the name next to mine, that means it's the guy who's fight I didnt get to see. I looked on the board more and saw that Natuto had to fight Neji. Man, my fight will be last.

I looked on it a little more and my soul left my body for a second. Sasuke has to fight Gaara. "May I ask you a question?" Shikamaru asked raising his hand. "You may." Hokage said. "Alright, if this tournament, does that mean there's only going to be one winner? I mean, only one of us going to be able to become a Chunin then?" Shikamaru asked. "Actually, it's quite the contrary. There are going to be several judges for the final rounds, including myself, the Shinobi leaders, and the Kazakage, the lords from the various countries that ultimately will be assigned your missions to you. Through this tournament, these judges will be able to make a thorough evaluation of your abilities. They will then decide whether any or all of you posses the qualities required of a Chunin. Even if someone loses the first round, they could still become a Chunin."

"So there's actually a chance that every one of us who competes in the final selection could become Chunin." Temari said. "Correct. But conversely, there's also a chance that none of you will be chosen. The advantage in fighting more round in the tournament in in getting more chances to display your talents in front of the judges who will decide your fate. Does that answer you question, Shikamaru?"

"I thank you all for your patience. Now let us adjourn until next month." The Hokage said. Who do I ask for help with training? I mean maybe Kakashi but won't he be a bit busy with maybe Sasuke? Eh.. I dont know.

After we left we went to go see Sasuke in the hospital. "Hey, where's Sasuke's room?" Naruto asked. "Sorry, no visitors allowed." They lady said. "What? No visitors? Are you kidding me?" Naruto yelled. "Those are the rules." The lady said. "Ah, come on, lady." "Naruto. This is a hospital. Keep it down." Kakashi-sensei said walking down the hall towards us. "Huh? Oh, Kakashi-sensei!" Naruto and I ran towards him. "Boy, am I glad to see you! We gotta ask you a favor." Naruto said opening his arms "Stop right there. I already know what you're going to ask. So I've been looking for someone that can oversee your guys training for the final rounds."

"Hold on! Why can't you train us, sensei?" Naruto asked sticking his finger in Kakashis face. "I have other matters to handle. I dont have time to deal with you two." Kakashi said. Naruto grumbled but soon yelled "Hey! Aha! You're going to train Sasuke, aren't you, Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto yelled. "Now, now, dont complain. Listen, I found you two an even better teacher than me." Kakashi-sensei said. "Well, who is it?" I asked.

"It is I." a familiar voice said behind us. I cringed at the sound of Ebisus voice. Naruto and I slowly turned around and yelled while pointing at him "You! You closet pervert!" He pushed his glasses up "Such insolence."
