Chapter 98

"Hey, Idate. The ocean is the other way. Where the hell do you think you're going, you idiot? You have to turn around." Naruto shouted as we ran after him. "You can forget about it. There's no way I'm turning around." Idate said and ran faster. 

"We'll catch up to him pretty soon." Naruto said. "But it's too late now. He wont be able win this far from the port." Sakura said. "I dont know. He might have planned to come this way from the very beginning." Sasuke said. We all looked over at him "huh?"

"Finally caught up to ya. Hey, wait up, will ya? So what gives? Why the heck did you come this way?" Naruto asked running with Idate as Sasuke, Sakura, and I stayed above on trees. "Will you shut up? It's none of your business anyway, kid." Idate said. "What's with the attitude, pal?" Naruto asked. "I said shut up!"

"Watch out!" Sakura shouted. "I don't think they've even noticed it." Sasuke said. "This is genjutsu." I said. "Are you going to slow down or what?" Naruto asked. Idate ran forward and looked around. "I've already been here. Great, I'm trapped in some sort of genjutsu." Idate said. "Say what?" Naruto asked walking over to him. "In that case, release." Idate said and released the genjutsu.

He looked forward and saw Incoming light. "Over there." He ran towards it. "No, dont go that way!" I shouted. Naruto looked up and the trees "Huh? What's going on around here?" Naruto asked. Idate ran forward until he thought he was out. He wasn't looking as he was running and stepped right off a cliff. He started to yell as fell down. Naruto grabbed ahold of his belt as he jumped down the too tied with rope. "Just hold still. I'll have them pull us up now." Naruto said.

"Oh man, that was a close one." Sakura said. "Somebody set up one genjutsu on top of another. That's not very easy to pull off." Sasuke said and he pulled in the rope. "You idiot, if you had just stopped for two seconds, we wouldn't be in this mess." Naruto said. "What did you say?" Idate said trying to hit Naruto. "Hey, knock it off. Stop." Naruto said. His pouch for his ninja tools opened and they all fell out. "No, all of my ninja tools."

After they were pulled up Naruto and Idate sat down as Sakura was putting the rope away. "Look, I didnt need your help, okay?" Idate said after he stood up. "You didn't need it? Hey, listen, you fat head, how about a little thanks for saving your life?" Naruto shouted. "You only saved me because you're bound to by duty. There's no need for me to thank you." Idate said. "What did you say?" Naruto growled. "Stop it, Naruto. He's absolutely right. But look, if you don't want to wind up dead, then I suggest you stick close to us." Sasuke said.

"Heh" Idate said and turned around. "Hey, where are you going anyway? What happened to Port Degarashi?" Naruto asked. "What about it? Forget that port. I'm heading north from here." Idate said. "You are? So does that mean it's faster that way?" Sakura asked. "That's right." Idate said. "How do we even know if we can trust this guy?" Naruto said. "Tch. That's the problem with all you ninja." Idate said. "What? Look, at this time of year, there are some pretty strong seasonal winds blowing hard across the sea. Back at the starting point, I noticed the clouds. I could see the wind was blowing toward us. On top of that, there's a port to the north where the ocean current flows directly into Nagi Island. That's what I was saying. You ought to use this a little more here." Idate pointed at his head.

We were running down the path in a line. "Hey, I can smell salt on the wind." Naruto said. We kept running until we saw blue water ahead "It's the ocean." Sakura said.

We were walking down some steps towards the water. "What's that across the water?" "It's the halfway point, Motaroki Shrine over at Naki Island. We can probably get ourselves there within an hour from here. One sec." Idate said and ran to the right.

He ran to a small shack and knocked "Hey, Gramps, it's me. Idate of the Wasabi." The door opened "Hey there. I've been waiting for you." The old man said. "It's going just as I thought it would. I'm gonna need you to lend me that boat." Idate said. "You bet. I have things all ready for ya. You can use that one over there." The man said pointing at a boat in the water.
