October 22nd

My birthday was great, but it creeps up to me that Toby and I can't be perfect forever. He is still hiding something from me and I am determined to figure it out. I want him to tell the truth and for us to get along all the time, but that isn't how we work.

He is still asleep and I've been awake for two hours now. I get up and make myself some cereal.

He is hiding something.

I go out on the balcony to get some fresh air. The chilly air would normally give me goosebumps, but I already have them for thinking about Toby lying to me. I take a bite of my Frosted Flakes. There is no way I can figure this all out on my own. I need to talk to my sponsor, or use to be sponsor. After I finish my breakfast on the balcony, I tip toe and get ready.

He is still asleep. I sneak out the door and unlock my new car with my new keys. I should have left him a note.. I'll just text him.

Me: I'll be back.

That should do it. I start my car and take off. Could this make me the creepiest girlfriend of the year? After an hour and a half drive I arrive at the rehab. I stomp inside.

"I need to talk to my sponsor." I tell the lady at the font desk.

"What is her name?" She asks me.
I look around. I don't know her name.
"I don't know exactly, but my name is Alice Stark."

"I'm sorry I can't tell you were she is." She making me mad.

"I will fuc.." My sponsor ends up behind me and puts her hand on my shoulder before I finish that sentence.
"I'm here." She states the obvious as always.
"Tell me more about Toby." I plead.

"Alice, it's eight o'clock in the morning.
Please tell me you aren't here because of this boy." She raises her eyebrows at me.

I don't answer her.

"Let's go to my office." She finally says and leads me there.

I enter her office. She has a new chair, probably because I ripped the last one.
"What do you want to know?" She sits in her chair and looks at me.

"What is he lying to me about?" I quickly ask.

She licks her lips. "I'm not sure what he has been telling you."

"It is really cancer?"

She shakes her head slowly. "He doesn't have cancer. He does have a tumor that eventually mess with him."
"He told me it was cancer. Does he go to the doctor a lot?"

"As much as a normal person. They can't do anything about it. If they try and take it out it will kill him faster. If they leave it in it will kill him slower." I see pain in her eyes. "He still.. I shouldn't tell you that."

"No tell me!" I push.

"You know, he is my friend and I'm not going to be the reason you two break up." She stands from her desk.
"You drove all the way here for no reason. If you are going to be this way you probably shouldn't have a boyfriend."

That's it. I've been holding in all this anger for so long, and now it has exploded. I have a break down. I stand from the chair and push it over. Then, I push everything off her desk. I throw things at the wall, causing it to crack. I walk out of the rehab angry. I speed off.
I get to Toby's apartment. His car is still here. I slam the car door shut, and go up all the stairs. When I get inside the apartment Toby is dressed and on the couch.

He knows. I can tell by his face. "I know where you have been."

I take a deep breath. "How-" He stands up but stops his sentence. "Are you high?"
