As James felt his legs getting weak, he was suddendly released, getting a gush of not-so-fresh saferoom air.

Then he heard a punch and a grunt, then a sound of a person hitting the floor.

"DON'T YOU FUCKING TOUCH JAMES!" Jack. It was Jack.

"Old Sport..." He heard a thick New York accent from another man behind him.

"DON'T "OLD SPORT" ME, WILLIAM AFTON!" Jack screamed again, shocking Dave. He used his real name. He never ever did that, until now. He must be real furious.

As Dave was rubbing his bleeding lip, sitting on the floor, Jack ran to the teenage boy. "Are you alright James? That horrible man didn't hurt you, did he?"

James coughed, softly touching his throat that was tightly squeezed not too long ago. "I-I'm alright, Mr. Jack..."

Jack helped the boy stand up.

Dave stood up too and looked at the shorter two, an unfazed look on his face, together with a huge gash on his lip.

"Get out of my restaurant, Dave. I won't let you hurt anyone else, ever." Jack took James' hand, making sure he's safe.

Dave gave him the evil smile and laughed. "Oh, so you want to be the good guy again? Before I start, what's with you and that kid? His name is "James", right? Did you adopt him or something?" Dave asked, still laughing.

Oh shit. The aubergine will probably reveal all the bad things he did.

"I- I found him on the street, playing the trombone. He was homeless, so I took him in." Jack admitted, making James gasp.

"Mr. Jack will take care of me..?" He thought to himself, still hiding from the scary tall purple man.

Dave's eyes widened. "Oh... That kinda reminded you of something, or someone, amirite?"

Jack lowered his eyes.

"Old Sport, remember how-" Dave was about to spill everything, but Jack wouldn't let him.

"Dave, please. Don't. I'm sorry for leaving you that day, just... Please don't tell James... About... You know..." Jack pleaded, stepping forward.

"Tell me about what?" James questioned, getting suspicious.

"Nothing, James! We were friends, but... Some bad stuff happened, and... Nevermind..." Jack was at a loss of words. What should he tell the kid?!

"Why did he try to strangle me, though?" James asked.

"Um... He thought that you were a bad guy, who wanted to tamper with the springlock suit, right, Dave?" Jack thought up a lie.

Dave nodded. "Uh, yeah. The ones who tamper with suits should be strangled."

"But I didn't even touch that bear, I just listened to the tape..." James told them.

"Yeah, yeah, sorry kid, I won't do that again." Dave apologized, not so genuinly.

James smiled and nodded. "Apology accepted, Mr. Purple Man!"

Dave's cheeks turned a little red after the kid called him "Mr.".

"Damn, that kid's pretty polite... Maybe he could become one of your suit-wearing slaves?" Dave whispered to Jack's ear.

Jack raised his fist, about to punch him again. "I'M NEVER MAKING HIM WEAR THAT THING"

"Jeez, calm down, Old Sport, you're gonna traumatize your child here..." Jack lowered his fist quickly, crossing his arms.
"Letting kids watch their parents fight is bad, ya know?"
