Katy is sitting in a hospital waiting to hear news which will either make or break her.
Her daughter is fast asleep in her arms while people walk by.
They will gossip but not much since they didn't know what the circumstances are.
Why would a twenty-two year old with a three year old be at a hospital?
A doctor comes out and Katy can see that it isn't good news.
She sigh as she stands up without waking Maya up.

"Mrs Hart. J unfortunately don't have good news. Your husband didn't make it."

Those words broke Katy.
Not just physical but emotional as well.
She doesn't know how to raise her daughter on her own.
She doesn't know how to do anything on her own.

It was early the next morning and Katy woke up.
She looked at the bed which was basically empty without Kermit.
Get used to it Katy, she thought.
This would be her life.
Nkthjng could change that.

"Daddy!"

Katy sigh as she gets up to where her daughter was sleeping in her own room.
She was sitting in bed and wide awake unlike her mother.

"Hey Baby Girl. Had a good sleep?" Katy asked as she sat down next to Maya.
"Daddy," Maya said and a tear fell from Katy's eye.
"Daddy is gone pumpkin. He... He isn't here with us anymore. But you have me. And I promise to never leave you, okay?" Katy said and gave Maya a hug.

Whether the young girl understood what was going on nobody knows.
But Katy had to go on with her life.

Does a three year old really understand if her father isn't coming back?
I won't know what is happening if my dad was dead and I found out at like three.
Maybe she would figure it out.
I don't think Maya really does understand what is going on.
