4th Week of School...
This is probably the day I've been dreading the most, it completely slipped my mind until the reminder from my homework app notified me that I had it today.
Fitness Testing...
During the first month of our semester for P.E we have to do a lot of physical activities that tests our agility, strength, endurance etc. Throughout the whole week.
This includes pull-ups, the beep test, high jump, shuttle run, sit-ups, push-ups, long jump and probably everything else you could think of.
I head to my second period not knowing how much I'll be able to actually do but I figure I'll just worry about that during lunchtime.
I continue to focus on my work and make sure I'm doing everything right and I look around to see if everyone else is already finished. I don't talk to anyone in my Math class so I just sit quietly while listening to my teacher, despite being an advanced program half of the kids just goof around while the teacher is talking, and since this is her first year teaching, she isn't able to get them to listen.
I check the time and seeing that it's around 30 minutes until class ends, I decide to start packing up my things and leave class early with my teacher's permission. The Academy does require a paid admission to attend but scholarships are offered to those who need it. If you finish all your work and are doing well there are chances that you'll be able to leave early as long as you don't cause any trouble. Luckily I have a good reputation with the school staff here, and I intend to keep it like that.
Knowing that I have English next, I take my binder with me, but I think about taking a detour there to look around the school more. I pass the music hall and stop in my tracks as I hear voices in the auditorium, I peek through the door and just as I thought, a group of students that are from the drama department are sitting down within the audience as auditions continue.
Right...I almost forgot about the tryouts for the school's Macbeth play this week, I see Jake sitting down with the students so I sneak past the teachers monitoring the tryouts and place myself right beside him.
He's busy reading over his script so I patiently wait for him to finish. Once he's done Jake looks up in a calm manner but is surprised to see me right next to him.
"Kiara, what are you doing here?"
"I finished my work early and wanted to stop by to see what you were up to. What part are you auditioning for?"
I smile waiting for his reaction, Jake's loves to participate in plays and musicals, so I'm hoping for the best results for him.
"I'm not exactly auditioning for a part in particular, but I'm trying out with Macbeth's line and then they'll decide which part I'll play. You could always audition too Kiara, you used to love acting."
It's true, when I was younger I participated in a lot of local plays and musicals and had a lot of the lead parts. I loved the feeling of getting on stage and presenting a character that wasn't yourself, but as I grew older I got gradually insecure so I stepped back from participating in anything for a long time.
"Tempting...but I think I'm more suited in the audience from now on. I wish the best of luck for you though!"
He looks a little disappointed but quickly covers it up with a smile, Jake has been trying to convince me to get back into acting for years. But I never thought of doing it again, I even get nervous if I have to present something in front of class!
"Next up...Jake Miller!"
We turn our faces to the front as the teacher called his name, I give him a thumbs up as he smiles and heads to the stage. I sit quietly in the audience and noticed he has garnered a lot of attention from the girls in the auditorium, I've gotten used to this though because as you can see, I'm friends with a lot of boys at this academy. But this just makes me uncomfortable since he's my cousin.
When he's on stage he presents himself as a different person, like you're supposed to in acting. He continues to impress me with his skills as he plays out the role perfectly even if he doesn't even know what part he will play.
Once finished he takes a bow on the stage. I start to applaud him for his performance but in surprise I notice half the audience starts clapping for him too. He looks a little embarrassed as I smile seeing how well he did. There weren't any reactions from the students like his so I'm hoping that he impressed them enough.
I high-five him as he sits back down and I tell him how amazing I thought he did on stage. He shrugs my praises off but deep down I think he knows that he did well.
I look at my phone and my eyes widen looking at the time.
"Shoot! The bell's about to ring and I wanted to be at class early!"
Jake starts stifling laughter as he sees me frantically gather all my books and leave class early. I wave him goodbye and I head to English.
Lunch...
Since I have P.E (Physical Education) right after lunch, I decided to not eat today so my stomach doesn't hurt with having too much food in me. I conclude to eat an energy bar and a bottle of water but all my friends are looking at me with concerned eyes.
Confused, I continue to look at my phone and tell them I'll be fine. With the little conversations we had I excuse myself first and go to get my back to bring to the change rooms.
There are a few shower rooms, and drapes so it's pretty secluded between all of us which makes everything less awkward. Once I've finished changing and put have my hair in a ponytail I head to the gym to see Ruby waiting for me.
"Hey are you ready for the testing?"
I shake my head rigorously as we start doing push-ups on the floor. We do physical activities throughout the week, record our results and than compare them when we do it again at the end of the semester. I don't necessarily like this because I'm a couch potato, but I want to get a good grade so I reluctantly do as I'm told.
Around me I see girls cheating and just writing good scores, but I never liked taking shortcuts. The day went on with jumping, cardio and stretching that I could hardly remember what I did. The exercise I was best with was probably sit-ups, we were told to do as many as we could without stopping but once the teacher saw that I had already done 50 she told everyone who already got over 50 to stop and that it was enough.
I was pretty proud of myself for doing so well, it's good that I have P.E last period rather than in the morning, it makes it more convenient since I get to leave school early anyway.
I start packing up my things and plop one to my bed as soon as I get home.
Fitness Testing Day 1:Complete
Now I just have to get through the rest of the week...
