June 26th, 2019...
I was nervously getting ready to go to school today to get my exam results and yearbook.
We would only need the morning to see the grades for our classes, so up until 12pm my parents allowed me to stay out.
I was going to walk with Mari, then after our group of friends would go to a nearby pizza place to celebrate the end of the school year.
I bid my parents goodbye after getting my bad and fixed my hair in a messy ponytail as I exit the door.
I did not have much to think about anything else besides the upcoming marks I was expecting. I knew that I was right at the edge of the grade requirement for honour roll. I wouldn't have to do good in the exams, just well enough to have my overall average over 80%.
It did disappoint me, but since the year is already over I can't do anything about it now, just wish that I did well.
I was planning to take Canadian Law during the summer, so while I did that my grade would still go towards my Grade 9 year. I was exciting to learn, but it was a little nerve-wracking.
I didn't know how well I would do with this type of schedule, I had never done online school before. Especially considering that this was supposed to be summer break.
A little more insight as the why I did this, my mom had wanted me to take French course every year — as a result of this I would not be able to have enough room in my schedule for the next school year to take music again. By taking a course during the summer, it frees up my schedule and allows for me to have one singular spot available so I can take the classes I wanted.
I really desired to have classes that I enjoyed, so in order to have that I needed to take some initiative by sacrificing one month of my vacation to continue doing classes.
I saw the brown-haired girl waiting for me at the edge of my street and I waved to her. Walking away from my house.
"What do you think we will get?" She asked smiling ear to ear with the idea that school was over for the year.
I shrugged my shoulders while making eye contact with her.
"No idea"
Maria poured seeing that I had no answer and we continued to walk eagerly to get to the school.
By the time we arrived students were already moving in all directions, rushing to get to their classes in order to see their exam results.
I looked over to my right and I smiled seeing Dante by the Library with a book in his hand...
"Look! I'm going to see what Dante's up to , i'll see you at business later!" I waved goodbye to Mari as I made my way up towards the basketball team captain.
He looks away from his phone for a moment and his face brightens as I make my way towards him.
"Good Morning beautiful! How's your day going so far?" He asked giving me a quick hug before letting go.
"I-It's going okay. Why do you have a book in your hand? You never read." I told his this teasingly and his cheeks start turning red.
"Well, I got this book at the beginning of the semester for an English test. And I may have forgotten to return it after having it for four months. Hehe...hehehe..." He says nervously.
I cover my mouth to stifle my laughter and grin.
"Yeah that sounds like something you would do. I'm going to go check my grades now for my classes. I'll see you later!" Before I can hear his response I start going towards the stairwell and make my way to all my classrooms to get my papers.
First, there's Geography. Our final grades were posted on a paper in front of the door, so making sure I get there before my other peers do, I quickly scan for my student number to see what I got.
"Alright...13090204...82%!" My eyes widened immediately noticing I said that aloud and look around to see if anyone was nearby that heard me.
I let out a sigh of relief seeing no one and fist pump by myself as a small celebration for that grade.
To speed this process up, I obviously did not do well with my other grades. Except business.
French:
Overall average = 71%
Exam Grade = 60%Science:

Overall Grade = 98%
Exam Grade = 90%I did my best to suppress my feelings of disappointed, although I may had done considerably well it was upsetting knowing that I was capable of so much more, yet failed to do that.
This was a huge adjustment I had to make, and although it's not good. I can do my best to learn from my mistakes so I don't repeat them in the future. I knew if I dwelled on it and drowned myself in my own sorrow, that I would not get anything done or improve at all.
So getting rid of the feeling of a pit in my stomach, I took in a deep breath before heading to where everyone was planning to meet after checking their results.
After doing the math in my head, it made me feel relieved that I was still eligible for honour roll.
My overall average was at 80.5%, seeing how close I was to not reaching the minimum made my body shiver.
It was nerve-wracking, but I was really glad I finished the year with the grades I had gotten.
In life, there are times where something will start to change within, and you won't know how to cope or stop it. By adjusting and learning with each misstep, I see myself getting better slowly. Until eventually, I will be able to look at the mirror and say that I am proud of who I have become.
I feel a sudden warmth at my back, and I smile softly knowing who it is.
"Ready to go get some food?" Dante asked grinning at me.
I nod and grasped his hand softly taking him aback.
"Yeah, let's go! I want you to tell me all about your thoughts on this year so far." I told him still holding on to his hand.
He started to list all that has happened to him, and happily I listened to all of it.
After all, it's our lives, as High School Students...
