16th Week of School
Thursday, December 19th...

With all that's been, it had completely slipped my mind that something super important was happening today...

I started seeing a counselor twice a week during lunchtime after I was feeling down from everything, and it's helped me feel better. They've taught me some mental strengthening games, breathing techniques and encouraged me to start exercising to release stress in a healthy way.

I started taking deep breathes in the morning to help start my day and progressively I saw myself getting more comfortable with the routine. The doctors say they've seen great progress from the past few weeks.

As I'm starting to get ready for school I hear a soft knocking on my door.

"Kiara?"

"Come in!"

I see my mom open the door and smiles,

"Dear for tonight what time do you want us to head to the school?"

I look at her confused, "Tonight? Mom what's happening tonight?"

She looks at me baffled as if she hadn't expected me to forget.

"Kiara, it's the premier of the play Jake's starring in tonight. Don't you remember?"

Oh my gosh! I completely forgot!

I start rushing to look at my calendar and sure enough, it says Macbeth is today.

"Be there by 6pm tonight..."

"Perfect, thanks honey."

As soon as she exits I start becoming frustrated by how forgetful I could be to even forget about the play. Posters have been up around the school for weeks.

I sigh, disappointed in myself.
I hold my head softly as I slowly feel a sudden headache and try to shake it off.

I'm sure the breathing techniques and mediation have been working, but I'm still not at my best state.

You know Jake will understand, as long as you're there to support them

My subconscious repeats in my mind like a record player and once that's set in stone. I feel ready to head to school.

I exit my house about to start walking, but to my surprise I see Jake's car out in the front. With the wind chill I shiver and slowly walk towards the vehicle.

He rolls the window down and as I'm about to say something, a sudden figure pops out from the passenger seat and screams in my face.

"BOO!"

"AH!"

I end up backing into ice and slipping onto the ground injuring my bottom.

I hear laughing from inside the car and I glare at Dante who had hid by slouching inside the car to scare me. Jake quickly exited to help me up, and I accepted the hand. As soon as I got up I hit his shoulder since he was also part of the plan. I enter the back of the car grumbling and continue to look mad at them in the mirror.

"What are you guys even doing here?! Dante you should be in class! Don't we have a written music test!"

He smirks shrugging it off.
