2:11 pm...
I wait patiently for class to end, trying to avoid thinking about how inevitably, I will have to go talk to Dante after this.
Although I reciprocate his feelings, I never had wanted a relationship in high school in order to focus on my grades, but now that I've slowly fallen into a hole I can't get out of, I'm wondering what would happen if I allowed my emotion to surface.
If I allowed this feeling of happiness, to consume me.
Once the bell rings I gather my things and make my way to the rooftop using the stairs. From time to time students visit after school in order to get some fresh air, but other then our group of friends not a lot of people actually know you're allowed to.
When I get to the rooftop I stay still. He must've have planned something, so slowly I open the door and in front of me I make eye contact with the boy.
His eyes gleaming and his mouth smiling wide as he notices I arrived. I look down and see Dante had set up a blanket and a picnic basket on the floor, along with a few cushions and blankets.
He steps towards me offering his hand, and hesitantly, I reach for it. He leads me to the picnic set-up and we sit down.
"So did you like the flowers?" He asked looking hopeful while staring at me.
I nod and smile at him, "I loved them, you really went all out didn't you?"
He rubs the back of his head and directs my attention to the basket in between us. Carefully he takes out a package of Oreos and giddily I put my hands out wanting him to hand them over.
Grinning he teases me at first but eventually he gives them and I start eating.
We spent probably about two hours just sitting, talking to each other. Eventually I had ended up laying my head on his lap, starting to feel sleep take over me as my eyelids start to droop.
Carefully Dante shakes me, not wanting me to fall sleep yet and I look at him not sure what he's going to do next.
He seemed like he wanted to ask me something serious, so I sat up from where I was laying and looked at him.
"Kiara, how many flowers had I given you in each class."
I think for a moment remembering all that I was given before I answer.
"5 Camellias, 4 Heliotropes, 3 Gardenias, and 2 red roses," I reply to him pushing a strand of hair away from my face, nervously.
"Right." He said.
Dante turned around, shuffling a bit grabbing something from a box behind him.
Curious, I try to peak from behind but he shakes his head telling me to close my eyes.
Reluctantly I do what he asks and I put my hands over my face blocking my view.
"Open your eyes now."
Once my eyes open, I'm met with two potted flowers in front of me.
One Yarrow, and One Geranium.
"Now, you've gotten flowers in groups of 5, 4, 3, and 2, so from these two you have to select one. And that will be your answer."
I nod in understanding staring at the flowers at a loss.
"...you don't have to give me your answer now, I know you already have enough on your plate so I'll make it this way. We can continue as we were in any way you would like, and you'll take both pots with you home. Take care of them, and whichever one lives longer based on your preference will let me know what you've decided." Dante explains slowly making sure I comprehend everything.
