Chapter 21: Gift Shopping

December 24th, 2018
Tuesday...

I woke up earlier than everyone else today and had decided to wake Irene and Andrew to get breakfast with me, since Jake, Dante and Mari like sleeping in the most. Grudgingly she agreed and we knocked on the boy's hotel room. Not to our surprise Andrew had opened it and was joyed to hear that we were going to go get food.

Today, I felt like getting some toast and a cup of chocolate milk, so I gathered all my food and met up with the two who were already sitting at a table. Irene had got fruits and scrambled eggs while Andrew had taken a stack of pancakes.

Once I get to my seat we start eating quietly not uttering a word. We've only been in France for about two days so far, us leaving on the 22nd and it's now...the 24th? Right? December 24th?

OH SHOOT!

IT'S DECEMBER 24TH

I start choking on my food after realizing what day it was, Andrew and Irene both stand up to pat my back to help me swallow properly. The tourists and other guests had looked at me as if I was crazy, and once I managed to breathe properly again I laid my head down in embarrassment.

"What was that about Kiara?" Andrew had asked him and I look at him almost embarrassed.

"I forgot it was Christmas Eve today..." I put my head shamefully and wait for the two's reactions.

I expected both of them to laugh at me for not remembering, but I hear no sound from our table. Confused, I look up and see both Andrew and Irene look at each other with surprised expressions. They had forgotten as well...

I think to myself, how could I had forgotten, and then I realized. Before we left I had bought gifts for my parents and brother, but since I didn't have enough time I couldn't get my friends' presents and had decided to buy them here when I had the time. Turns out though, that I really didn't have the time considering I only just realized this NOW. When all the stores are probably closed today.

I'm still in my pajamas, so I hurry to go finish my food in order to get ready. As soon as I'm done I dash upstairs to our hotel room with Irene and Andrew following behind me. Once I get there I knock on both doors to see whoever will open it first and to my surprise, Dante opens the boy's room first.

He yawns tiredly and I push past his to get to my room.

"Hey!" He yells after me but I ignore him and start to grab my clothes and head to the washroom to change.

Since I was in a hurry I quickly put on a random pair of jeans I had along with long sleeves and exit the bathroom with changing and getting ready within less than ten minutes. That must be a new record.

I see Mari waking up from the earlier commotion and gets out of bed to stretch.

"Good Morning Kiara, where are you going?" She asks me considering there was no group schedule today, so she had no idea why I was dressed up. I go beside her and whisper to her that I forgot to buy gifts. And she looks at me wide-eyed, her expression showing that she had forgotten too.

"Seriously?! I don't believe this. Out of the six of us, there has to be at least one to have remembered!"

"Remembered what exactly?" I turn around to see Jake and Dante enter our room crossing their arms wanting to know what the fuss is about.

Maria storms off to change into something else and I'm left with the boys to answer my question.

"Guys, please tell me you remembered that it's Christmas Eves today and we had promised to give each other gifts tomorrow."
