January 16th, 2019

Along with cramming in our few days left until exams start, the whole school has been rushing to get their final projects submitted before the end of the week. And luckily for me I was able to organize my schedule well and complete a lot of it ahead of time, enough to hand in my final work today.

My teachers were all immensely proud of how hard I've been working since what happened last year, and I was very happy to see that my plan to make a comeback wasn't totally a fail.

Although the school staff encouraged me to alert my teachers next semester of my previous head injury, I politely disagreed saying that I didn't want to be treated differently to something that hasn't cost me to lack in my work.

I was busy working on my English culminating task today in the library by myself after school. And Since everyone was busy with their own things, I didn't expect anyone to be joining me.

I notice a figure moving towards me and I turn around seeing my cousin trekking towards me with a stack of papers and portfolio in his hand.

Although we've been going to the same school since the beginning of the academic year, we haven't had a lot of time for just the two of us to hang out because of us both being too busy.

I stare at the pile in awe as he places them beside the computer I'm at and I look back at him and the work.

"So...I'm assuming this is all due by Friday." I asked him.

He sighed staring at the workload in front of him and I gave him a pitiful and sad look.

"I've just been so busy with my projects with the Drama Club that I may have been procrastinating more than I usually do." My cousin told me ruffling his hair in frustrating.

He continued to pace back and fourth in front of the table I was working at — taking a deep breath I close my laptop and books in front of me and look through Jake's schoolwork.

"So what do you have left to finish?" I asked calmly while looking at my cousin in his frazzled state.

"Well, I finished my playwright for Drama, and studied for my Final Math Performance Task, but I still need to review and practise, finish my Wood-shop piece and create my essay on Life In The Trenches during the First World War. I'm doomed. DOOMED!" Jake started going in a exasperated sob and I rush to think of a way to help him.

"I mean, Dante is your roommate. Can't he help you with some of your classes, or your other friends?" I asked him.

He let out a sigh before looking blankly at me.

"They're all busy doing the same thing I am, Dante's at the dorm right now finishing his wood piece while I have to prioritize my History essay and Math practise before I should even start mine like he is." He said.

I thought to myself for a moment looking at Jake and my own work — listening to my gut, I push my binders to the side of the table and usher him to sit down beside me while I look at his history essay.

"So, you've started outlining important information and key points right? If we do this right we can get this done before 5 pm—" I stated looking at the time on my phone seeing it was only 2:35. I continued.

"I know I'm not the greatest help, but I'm sure I can assist you in revising your work so you're not too stressed, that way you have everything under control after this is out of the way." I smiled at him.

Jake perked his head in delight and quickly rushed to get started on his piece.

I texted my dad I would be staying after school in the library and that Jake would drop me off at home In the evening once we finished up.
