Chapter 23: The Tour

December 26th, 2018
Thursday...

Kiara's POV

I have a bad habit of falling asleep at the wrong time...

"WAKE UP EVERYONE!"

I stand abruptly to the sudden screaming, as soon as I open my eyes I see Jake blaring loud rock music from his phone causing everyone to stir from their sleep.

I look beside me to see Dante at the same position from last night and crawl away quickly feeling embarrassed that I didn't watch the full movie with everyone. What would my dad think if he found out?

I stand up rubbing my eyes and go to the washroom to wash my face real quick. Once i'm wide awake I go back inside the room to hear Jake's "important" announcement.

"Great News Everyone! My parents had called us saying that we're all going to go on a City Tour today on a bus! We're going to stop by a lot of places like the Louvre, The Eiffel Tower and many more! So go get yourself dressed and be ready in one hour."

Excitedly we all head to our rooms to get dressed. We hadn't been able to tour the attractions yet, so a full day of it sounded exciting.

As I change my clothes I notice Dante's necklace still on me. I unknowingly smile to myself as I hold the gem softly in my hand.

Not wanting to be late though, I decided to keep it on and get on a pair of black jeans and a wooly cardigan. Once I make sure I have everything I head outside the room to wait for everyone.

To my right I see Dante already there In fitted clothing.

I look away before he catches me staring and I keep my face down as the silence surrounds us. He keeps his eyes on his phone, so luckily he hadn't noticed me. We patiently wait for the others to join us, not saying a word to one another.

Once Maria, Irene, Jake and Andrew join us we go to meet our guardians outside. To our surprise, we see a huge tour bus waiting in front of our hotel door.

The tourist vehicle had a second seating area on its top, so In excitement I rushed inside with the others following close behind me.

I manage to sit myself near the front and look in awe as the bus gave me an amazing view.

While I was distracted someone had sat down beside me, I turned to meet their gaze but my eyes widen seeing Dante staring back at me. I smile nervously and look elsewhere. Playing with my fingers.

"Is something wrong Ki?" The boy raised his eyebrow at me, and I sigh finally getting the courage to talk to him.

"Sorry...I'm just kind of embarrassed last night. You must have been very uncomfortable on the floor and I had ended up falling asleep on your shoulder during the movie!" I exclaim.

Dante shakes his head, grinning.

"Is that all? Kiara you know me better than that, trust me I was fine. No need to feel embarrassed. Besides, this hasn't been the first time you've fallen asleep on my shoulder."

I think for a moment and realize Dante is right, we used to go on road trips all the time together as kids and I would always end up asleep on his or Jake's shoulder if they were beside me. I even had done it while sleeping on the plane. Had it become a habit of mine?

I nod at his reassuring words and gaze at him.

Dante continued to smile back on me until I see a glint in his eyes as he looks down towards my neck.

"You wore the necklace I gave you."

My checks start turning red as I try to act calm and normal.
