17 years ago, 2003...
At the wrapping party for the end of season 4 of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Y/n was able to meet the very special cast of the show. But one person stood out in particular to her. The woman her friend had introduced to her before the start of the party. The same woman she had a crush on, which her friend knew about.
Y/n had wanted to kill her best friend her abandoning her, but also wanted to kiss her. The conversation between Y/n and Mariska was awkward, but after a few jokes that both women said, they started to talk, and got to know each other better. And it didn't take long for Y/n to fall even deeper in the crush.
When Y/n told Stephanie, she honestly felt bad, and had to tell her friend that Mariska was dating Peter, but had said that things weren't working out between them. And that's all Y/n needed. Hope. Hope that Mariska would break up with Peter - yes, she knew it was horrible to say - and then maybe she'd have a chance.
But sadly, that dreaded day came too soon. After only a few months of Mariska and Peter being together as boyfriend and girlfriend, he asked her to marry him. And she said yes. Y/n was heart broken, but couldn't be mad at Mariska. She was pissed at Peter though. Such a lucky bastard. But as long as Mariska was happy, Y/n was happy for her.
But as time went on, she got more distant woth her friend. Not being able to see the small smiles and shared kisses the two would sneak. They both were really happy, and Y/n hated it. She wanted to be in Peter's position, but she waited too long and lost her chance.

2019
As years went on, it was early and hard to be around both Peter and Mariska. If she was onpy around Mariska, she felt fine, able to laugh freely with the woman, but if sue was around Mariska and Peter, it was a bit difficult to be herself.
But what hurt more, was actually getting hired on in SVU and having to work with her crush all the time. But they honestly had great chemistry so the writers decided for Miss Olivia Benson to come out as gay, and get a girlfriend. And guess who played her girlfriend... Y/n. And she was a sucker as well. She was tricked into saying yes, but really didn't mind, because hello, she got to kiss Mariska a few times over and over if she had too. But that didn't stipher stop from the distance between them, and soon Mariska needed to know why.
The actress cornered her in the fake interrogation room and asked why she was barely talking to her anymore, why she barely smiled or waved. Why she was just... gone from her life. Mariska was on the verge of tears, when Y/n came clean. "I love you," was whispered, the older actress standing there in shock, before a small giggle escaped her lips.
"I love you too," was whispered back, but Y/n thought the woman meant a platonic love, until Mariska started to talk. "I immediately got a crush on you after Stephanie brought you in and I never thought you might like me back. Things with Peter weren't going well, and I was about to ask you out and if you said yes, I would break up with Peter, but then you started seeing this girl, and Peter proposed to me and I just said yes.
"I still like you.." Y/n confesses, Mariska smiling brightly at the confession.
"I still like you too. Look, things aren't working out anymore with Peter and I, so I'm asking for a divorce and I want to try us. If that's okay-"
"Yes." Y/n interrupts quickly, a smile on her face as she quickly hug Mariska tightly.

2020, The Ellen Show
"Please help me welcome co-stars of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Y/n Y/l/n and Mariska Hargitay!" The crowd cheered as the two women walked out, dancing to the music as they walked over to Ellen and hugged the host tightly.
"Yes, thank you for being here today. And I hear you have some special news for us? Did Oliva finally pop the question to Emily? Or, is it the other way 'round?" Y/n looks over at Mariska, who's shining and smiling brightly.
"Well, not quiet, close. Mariska and I are the one's getting married though." There's screams and cheers from the crowd, Ellen leaning forward and hugging both ladies before sitting back down.
"Wow, congratulations you two!" More cheers came, and both Mariska and Y/n share a sweet kiss before continuing on with the interview, happy that they can finally be themselves and not have to hide from each other anymore.
