Chapter 50 - Surprise Mam!

I still couldn't quite believe I was engaged to Will... It all felt too good to be true I kept expecting someone to pinch me and I would wake up cold and alone back at my parent's house, I'm still not sure how I managed to get away from them... I'm still not sure I am free from them, they're stubborn assholes and they won't give up so easily just yet.

But! I didn't care about that right now.
Will and I had just finished "fangirling" I suppose you could call it over our soon to be wedding and future together. Then we got dressed and headed downstairs to go and tell Ma, Shaz. The good news, Will was beyond nervous and I wasn't too far off either.

"You ready to tell Ma?" I say with a giggle.
"More than ready, future wife" Will responds with a wink.

We walked down the stairs hand in hand for two reasons, One we were both like I said beyond nervous, and two it was a good way to hide the ring until we showed her.
Entering the kitchen we are both hit with the smell of a gorgeous breakfast that consisted of Pancakes, Bacon, Eggs, and fruit. It looked mesmerizing!

"Good morning you two!" Shaz says with a warm, happy smile "its so nice to have you back here again."

"It is nice to be back Mam," Will says with a smile, letting go of my hand which I quickly put into the pocket of the jumper I was wearing as He gives his mum a hug.
I and Will decided the best way to tell her about our engagement was to catch her by surprise in a way she had to notice it herself instead of us telling her directly, and we had the best idea!.
It was simple but sweet.

When I used to visit Will's place all the time Shaz and I would always wash up together, strange I know but, it was our thing.
We would talk about everything possible and end up not doing very much washing up but it was our bonding time, it started in the silliest of ways also, its one of my favourite memories to look back on.

I had just finished my first meal at Will's place after meeting his mum after months of her bugging him to bring me over, it had been such a lovely evening me and Shaz got on super well and I was relieved to hear from Will that she thought I was a beautiful woman with a wonderful personality.
"Would you like a hand washing up?" I said with a smile as I helped her clear the table
"Why yes, that would be lovely! Grumpy old Will never helps me with this job... it's his least favourite job!" ...

"I could tell by his apartment," I say jokingly
"Oi! you got Me and Alex mixed up there!" Will said defensively which made Shaz and I chuckle gaining a slight smile and eye roll in return " Knew yous would end up ganging up on me!"

"Think I might adopt her and sell you on eBay William," Shaz says as she kissed Will on the forehead "Lies, total lies. I am the best son there is!"

after a couple more jokes Shaz and I began to wash up and little did we know it would become a regular thing me and her did together.

...

I smiled thinking about the memory and how I never would have guessed that a couple of years later I end up engaged to Will and I would officially have Shaz as my mum... well mother-in-law but it still counts!

We all sat down and enjoyed a beautiful breakfast together and caught up on the things we forgot to mention last night with all the excitement of arriving back home together.
Will, Shaz, and I began to clear the plates up but Will obviously sat back down the second washing-up began to become an item on the agenda but for a different reason today.

"Would you like a hand washing up, Ma?" I said with a smile
"Of course I would my angel, simple things I have missed." She said with a genuine smile

"Would you help me take off my ring first? it's new and rather expensive I'd rather not get it wet and ruined before the wedding" I said rather casually, well as casually as I could. I put my hand out in front of her wiggling my engagement finger "Of course love-"
It looks a couple of seconds to realise before she went silent and tears began to form in her eyes
"L-let me take a closer look!" she said as tears began to fall down her cheeks

"Those better are happy tears, Mam!" Will said walking over putting a hand on her shoulder
"Oh, they are! They truly are!"
"It's a beautiful ring isn't it," I said as I felt tears begin to prickle my own eyes
"I wasn't even aware you guys were back together, oh Will! Y/N! this is the best news ever I am so happy"
"We actually... werent," Will said with a chuckle as the tears caught up with him also "You see..!"

And so Will began to explain our story over the past week or so as we all sat around the kitchen table holding hands, the happiest we had all ever been.
Shaz was convinced it was the best engagement story she had ever heard and I might be slightly biased but... I couldn't agree with her more
It truly was the best. It was perfect, beyond perfect!

Just like Will.

I just hoped this was the end of all the drama, but let's be real, we all know the drama won't stop there... I mean after all this isn't just some normal Romance Novel is it?
