Chapter Eight

A betrayal from someone you love and from a person whom you trust was really painful indeed. It is unimaginable, immeasurable and unbearable.

Nobody wants to feel that kind of intense pain. Nobody. Maybe except her. Because she wanted to feel something, far more worse than the hollow space inside her.

"So you experienced betrayal too huh?" Untag ng lalaki sa kanya. "So you do understand how I feel, right?"

Kinibit lang niya ang balikat dahil hindi niya alam paano iyon sasagutin. Naiitindihan niya pero hindi niya ramdam ang sakit na nararamdaman nito.

"I never thought they can do something like that. Travis was one of my best friend since we both grew up in States. Then he came home with me and we both entered college here in the Philippines. Sabay naming nakilala si Cheska na nasa Highschool pa noon. We became friends together with Gus and Hue. Pati na din sina Tia at Tabby at si Drey na half brother ni Trav." Pagkukwento nito. "Everything was okay for years. And then I courted Cheska one day and she said yes, right after my graduation. We were happy."

"And you didn't know that Travis liked her too?" Tanong niya.

"No. He didn't say anything." At saka lumagok ito ng beer. "Ang alam ko lang, pareho kaming nagandahan kay Cheska noong una namin siyang nakilala. She won some beauty pageant when she was in highschool and I thought that he was just attracted to her. Wala naman akong napansin na kakaiba sa mga kilos niya noon, lalo na ng sinabi ko na liligawan ko na si Cheska. Tinulungan pa nga niya ako eh, kaya hindi ko lubos maisip kung paano niya ako nagawang traydurin?"

"Dahil siguro nasa malayo ka kaya nagkaroon sila ng pagkakataon na magsamang dalawa. Maybe they go out as friends, but as day passes by, they started to feel something different towards each other. And next thing they new, they've been secretly in a relationship." Paliwanag niya.

"That's bullshit!" Galit na turan nito. "She's already committed to me. She promised to wait for me, but what the fuck did she do, huh?" At saka nito pinilipit ang lata na hawak kaya't napipi iyon. "I know that our situation back then wasn't easy. We had a long distance relationship because of my job as an FBI, but I always did visit her whenever I can. I tried my best to make our relationship work. I did everything to keep us intact. We've been together for five fucking years. But I guess it wasn't enough for her." At saka bumuntong hininga. "I wasn't enough for her."

"Maybe loving her wasn't enough for her. Maybe she wanted more from you. She wanted a commitment- a longer and sacred one." Aniya na ang tinutumbok niya ay pagpapakasal.

"I did. I had a plan on marrying her. I loved her and I wanted to spend eternity with her. That was why I went home secretly to surprise her. I even bought a ring that suits her taste." At saka kumuyom ang mga kamao nito. "But damn it! I was the one who got surprised." At saka bahaw itong tumawa. "I just stood there while I was watching them both naked in bed, banging each other."

Alam niya na masakit nga iyon. Hindi nga lang niya alam kung gaano dahil hindi pa naman niya nararanasan at hindi na rin siya nakakaramdam pa ng sakit.

"Muntik ko nang bunutin ang baril ko noon para baonan sila pareho ng tig-isang bala sa ulo." Pumikit pa ito na para bang naroon muli ito sa pangyayari ng mga oras na iyon. "But I couldn't do it. Especially when she looked at me with so much fear in her eyes. So I just turned around and walk away."

Para itong naupos na kandila nang idilat na nitong muli ang mga mata. Halata na apektado pa din ang binata sa nangyari rito.
